A lot has been said about Sam byram signing being imminent this window. Don't know much about him other than being a hot prospect. Have heard he is an attacking full back. So what I was wondering based on what the board have said on ffp and the fact our style of play IMO suits a full back that first and foremost is good at defending, can anyone really see this transfer happening this window with Tonka doing well there and jenks milking the money put aside for that position? Not to mention joey o Brian. I can't see it likely unless jenks goes and is really gona be a good fit for us?
we are getting mixed signals over our January transfer policy. The manager and chairmen say there is nothing to spend and the media have us lodging bids all over the place for Byram and Tore. Personally, I would love us to get Byram signed up. I have been banging the Byram drum ever since we got Cresswell. He is a top talent and his value will only increase. He is also from Essex and apparently a West Ham fan. He has also just been voted December Player of the Month in the Championship. If we have to forfeit Zarate to make it happen then I would. We've been tracking him for over 2 years now so don't let him slip by now that it's crunch time.
At our wage limit which suits me down to the ground. Did our business in the summer and our squad isnt going to get any stronger in january although think we shouldve got Gray from b'ham before leicester
Only desperate clubs buy in January. So unless an unmissable deal presents itself then I can't see much logic in risking Ffp rules. Heard a Leeds forum say they should trade byram for jelavic, o Brian and a loan deal for Samuelson. Had to laugh. If we get a decent bid for Carroll and a decent replacement come in I'd take it. Also heard tore at the end of the window. Not sure why Spurs is so aggiatated unless it's a wind up, only a couple of minor deals done so far anyway
Cant abgree on Carroll red neck ,i reckon Slav has taken him under his wing ,if he got an av of 15 a season I'd. Be happy, mind you i used to say that about Carlton ,hows he getting?on now by the way ,did some poor bastard pay money for him
Pretty sure Carlton's at Celtic. Could be wrong. I'm with you on Carroll too. Been waiting and waiting for this guy to finally deliver the goals we expect and at last (fingers crossed, touch wood) he could be over his injury hell and about to show everyone why Liverpool paid 35mill for him and we've been crying out to see him string a season of football together
Still not convinced with Carroll think everyone is still on a high because of the two wins we got with his goals. He has had major injuries every season we have had him, to cross our fingers and hope he will stay injury free along the same lines we have done is insane. I think the board and manager wants rid but only at a decent price and this could be the right time!
I hear you but on his day he scares the shit out of most Premier League defenders. Not many players bully solid partnerships and even if he doesn't score he wears them down enough to allow others to get in behind and nick a goal and we have the players now to do that. I think we have To give him the rest of the season and go from there.
Sell sell sell. Bull or bear wear your underwear.
Anything can happen though saying that it probably won't, but who knows.
Striker is a must and a decent one.
Send Jenkinson back to Arsenal and get Matthieu Debuchy at RB for cut price... IF he also took a massive wage cut. Tomkins could start at RB most games or play at CB depending on injuries etc.
Just read that arse are not happy with the fact jenks isn't playing as many games as they want him to. Maybe it's possible to agree that he can go back and we can get another replacement in?
Well why dont they just recall him and pay him his undoubted £40 + a week for the next 4 years to be their 5th choice right back.
Hes of absolute no use to use playing like an absolute donk and only holding back 1 of our youngsters that could potentially be a player of the future.
We pay a huge amount in the loan deal, both in wages and for the privilege of the loan. Then they want way too much to make him a permanent signing. And I think West Ham AND Jenks have realised what an unsustainable deal this is. So Jenks knows he's going back to Arsenal next season, and maybe not even make the bench, and it's destroyed his confidence. That's my take on it anyway. What a pity, and Wenger is to blame.
Both jenk and Moses signing the new contracts could turn out to be bad moves for both club and players. Neither player will feature much in those teams and so it only benefits the club if they get rid for a big fee, but neither player deserves to be bought for big money. So the longer the club fails to get rid for a decent wedge the more they will end up losing. The most both players will get next season based on current performances is yet another loan somewhere.
But I feel some sympathy with the players -- Jenks at least, since I don't really know much about Moses. Jenkinson was happy to be a Hammer last season and I'm sure he would have been delighted to sign with us. The Dave's wanted him and if Arsenal hadn't been so greedy a deal could have been done. We might have seen a different player, then. Now he knows we are looking for a permanent solution who is not him!
Sorry ashes I don't feel sorry for the players at all, THEY signed the new contracts at a time when players are kings of their own contracts. I'm sure arsenal and maybe Chelsea were being greedy but they also wanted to protect what is still their asset. The fact they could have come unstuck on this one is just life. Arsenal took the risk which on the face of it wasn't bad. They knew we needed a decent right back and jenks had done well last season so they expected us to buy him last summer or next summer for decent money. They just over exaggerated the going price for a fourth choice full back. Bet allardyce would have paid it. Full backs are easier to replace. Jenkinson fall from grace has to be as much in his head as anything. He may not be Cafu, but he has got to realise despite the new contract it changed nothing in his career. He still has to buckle down and either prove arsenal, Us or any other prospective buyer he is up to the mark, ditto Moses. These two look destined to be shifted around from club to club and ending up settled at a chump side

It's been reported
On 90 mins that Zarate could be headed to Malaga. Also that Poyet is back from his loan spell but could go straight back out to Charlton.
