Sam Byram

Just heard Leeds have accepted a £3 million bid from Everton, with possible £1 million in add-ons, and £12K a week wages! Come on chairmen, don't miss out on this boy please!! If Everton think Byram is better than Seamus Coleman you can see what a player this boy is. We've tracked him for so long we've probably alerted everyone else to him and now we let someone else gazump us.
He's the Championship player of the month for December, 21, born in Thurrock in Essex, and (rumour has it) a West Ham fan.
We know already with Cresswell and Antonio that these boys can make the jump.
Come on West Ham, get rid of Zarate, Lee, O'Brien if you have to. Only 12K a week. Surely that's possible. Make it happen!!!

Son just texted me saying byram has decided to join West Ham for 3.75 mill according to the Everton chairman! No idea where he heard that tho

Here's hoping... I've not seen the boy in action but a few people on here regard him as a good prospect and if he turns out anything like Cress, he could be a very good acquisition to balance our attack

3.75 is so cheap even if he only reaches the bench it's worth it! Not sure if I have been duped or not as I was lead to believe he was born in West Ham territory and was a fan. I read Brian mcdermotts (his first manager) and he was saying he was a local lad to Leeds. Not worried where he's from but we always like to see a fan in the team.

Yeah I heard that today Moore. Born Thurrock but left at a really young age did all his football in Yorkshire can we claim him as one of our own? Let's see how he plays first guffaw

We've already got one of these Red.

And he's not very good!!

I prefer to see players who earn their vast wages and are capable of taking West Ham to the top levels of the game.

Hopeches one of them.

Just the old fashioned in my prefers us to build a team the old way rather than just go out buying players at the top of their game and the top of their price! Not that I'm suggesting Dave x 2 would do that. There is no way we will get our fingers burnt ala Carroll on this deal.

I think Jenks day's were numbered the moment he was ousted by Tomkins. He's still got his 5yr L'Arse contract to keep the baliffs at bay though

Read it earlier that leeds have accepted evertons offer,& even though westham are interested the scousers are his preferred option!!What when you are born in essex, are a westham fan,& he is being signed as back up to seamus coleman!!Probably paper talk so expect him to sign for westham shortly!;)
Update:breaking news-westham to hijack evertons deal, offering 2 players plus cash & can guarantee him the right back spot!!No-brainer...

If we have definately identified him as a target and miss out it will be massively disappointing considering the small fee.

make sure we get a hearing with byram its in his own interest to do so...I think moves are being made just for once under the radar....the fee and wages will not be a problem but the deal wont happen either way until closer to the end of the window and I think Zarate will be offloaded for a similar fee and with his wages off the books well it would make things easier.

At the end of the day its easy for us fans to say we want this player & that. The daves are shrewd businessmen & the books have to be balanced,so imo they know what there doing.

Mached Everton's offer and the boy has a decisioin to make. Bet he can't wait to get to us! The two Dave's and Slav have said that unless something exceptional comes along and they can trim the squad to stay within FFP the squad is good enough. Clearly that talent has come along and equally Crystal someone will be heading out, JOB, Zarate, Jelavic?

The issue with Zarate is hes not a 90 minute player. But his shooting technique is the best in the team without a doubt. Unfortunately for him hes at his best when he doesnt get a run of games. Worth keeping though has scored some important goals this season

in the space of 12 months a helluva lot has changed at our club with players wanting to come here rather than choose other clubs over us

Just thinking if we want a striker as well but can't afford it due to ffp why don't we loan byram straight back to Leeds till the end of the season? (Isnt ffp only on wages?)

I read somewhere else that WHU were inquiring with Watford about Ighalo. Don't know what people think about him, but he could do OK with the kind of supply he could get from Payet and/or Lanzini. Worth a punt. But either way, Byram will be well worth the risk and it's great to hear of our club being the one players want to come to. There's something about the style of play, too, not just that we are headed up.

that's more one for the summer where around £20million being mentioned......we shall see because our recent purchases have proved to be very worthwhile and right now the only transfer we all want ratified is LANZINI....they did say it will be done before feb and hopefully it will be.

I can see why byram wants to leave! Yuk that's Leeds kit is horrendous! Kappa! Do me a favour. Also he has got to get used to playing in front of a crowd

Don't want to put the kiss of death on it, but when, Sam finally signs on the dotted line, (nearly done according to Sully), then we'll have the young, hungry right-back, that we've needed for many years now, and hopefully, he'll be with us for years to come. Great signing when its confirmed and only 22 years old. Now, lets go after Rhodes and get him in and that will be a really good transfer window.

Paying the reported 12 million plus for rhodes, hes still only proven in the chumps,(albeit cresswell & antonio have made the leap to the prem for more realistic sums) imo the Daves are too shrewd for a punt like that!
