Im not sure how long he has on his contract but arnt some tough decisions in the pipe line ?, it doesn't make sense 90 k a week ,are they just going to wait till the end of his time and then let him slip quietly into the night or what are they going to do ?,they ship out Zarate who couldn't have been on much more than 25 k yet they are prepared to keep paying this injury prone striker mega bucks ,dont get me wrong i like Andy ,pound for pound i rate him amonst the top target men (as opposed to strikers )in the prem if only he could stay clear of injurys
Burke the point is zarate we
Burke the point is zarate we can sell Carroll we can't! No one is gona buy a player when he is injured and this window and last window that was the case, I doubt we could even let him go for free as no one will match his wage due to ffp
Thats exactly what im saying
Thats exactly what im saying red ,what i meant was its just unsustainable for any football club to pay a geezer 90 k for doin sod all ,and like Carlton do we take back our life belt and let him drift away ?
Zarate is average. He'll have
Zarate is average. He'll have a spell of scoring then hold onto the ball too long and not bring other players into a game. He plays for himself and when it works it's great but it's not that often. Carroll is a game changer. He would've battered those two CBs today for the last 20 mins
When he's not streched out on
When he's not streched out on the physio table
Betty think you are over
Betty think you are over rating Carroll and under rating zarate. Both can and indeed have been game changers in their time. Both have played bloody awful too! Carroll is a team player who is never fit and zarate is mostly fit but isn't a team player. So weigh up the pros and cons I'd say they both offer about the same to us as a club as an overall player, but there is more hope for a player that can indeed be available for most games during a season. Make no bones about it we would get shot of Carroll if anyone is desperate enough to take him. Good job next season we will have our new 20 mill striker
Aye there's the rub. If he
Aye there's the rub. If he was always fit he would be a top top player. Hence why he's with us
Burkie there is nothing I'd
Burkie there is nothing I'd like to see more than Carroll cut adrift but his contract says we can't unless of course we come to some agreement but that would mean a huge pay off as there is s o much of his contract left. I doubt there would be much saving so he is probably deemed more benefit to the club just for the odd fill in game. Near the end of his contract yes pay him off. For the record I think zarate should have fetched as much as we paid for byram. He has his faults but is better than the price he was sold for.
Carroll reminds me of an old
Carroll reminds me of an old classic car, when up a running and working and everyones admiring it and want to buy the car 18m his last price quoted then it's not for sale, all of a sudden it breaks down and then you wished you cashed in when you had a chance, now you have to start re·build the poxy thing again, frustrating as f*ck

So Kieron Dyer was ...
an Austin Allegro???
ooohhhh
thats a bit harsh on the allegro:)!!!! but then again perhaps not .
ha ha
yes I suppose it is.
Carroll supporter
I may be a lone voice but I think Andy Carroll is a superb player and one we need to keep. For example, if we had him available for the Man City match we would have won I'm sure. He would have made mincemeat of their defence. It depends on the shape of the team I suppose, because ideally someone should be upfront with him. But I would keep him anyway. I agree that Austin was a steal at £4m but if you compare Benteke at £32.5m then Carroll is not overpriced.
Once he gets a good run of
Once he gets a good run of games, whether as a sub or a starter and scoring goals on a regular basis, people soon forget his past injuries. In football,it's the present that counts and if he can keep banging them in like we know he can that £20 MILLION fee won't seem expensive.Carroll needs to be honest with Bilic and vice versa,as regards the best way to use this player to get him though this injury nightmare, because there is no doubt ,Carroll at his best, is the best there is, as a target man.
Once he gets a run of games?
Once he gets a run of games? Define what people think is a run of games? Quite honesty I can't see why people still feel he is gona give us the games he needs. He will just keep repeat the same scenario. As the saying goes the definition of lunacy is to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. Face the facts guys anyone who thinks we will get 25 games a season from this lame donkey is clutching at straws. He's not important to the squad as we have dealt without him for the majority of the time he has been here and when the new boy comes in in the summer his days will be few and far between. Plus he is too outdated for the modern game.
Too outdated for the modern
Too outdated for the modern game? Tell that to Chelsea, Liverpool, Palace, United, Southampton, Norwich, Swansea who couldnt deal with him. Definitely not what I would describe him as. The modern game has plenty of different styles of play, just because he an old fashioned target man doesn't mean hes outdated. Give him the right service and as hes proved hes more effective then all of our strikers. Its good to have different options and hes one hell of an option to have. With regards to injuries, im not entirely sure its his fault. I mean look at our injury record in general something is going wrong. Typically we had players returning looking fit again when we left chadwell heath. Within a week of going back Carroll pulled his hamstring and Lanzini his groin. Also nobody says sell Sakho and hes missed almost as many games as Carroll same as Valencia. The next problem is coming back from multiple long term injuries is hard. You need a run of games to stay fit and to help stop injuries re occuring but at the same time by playing the required amount of games needed to get fully match fit you risk injuring yourself from over exertion. What he needs for once, is a full summer break without injury then a full pre season which hes not had for 3 years. People not necessarily you red neck need to stop acting as if Carroll wants to get injured and get behind him. I for one would rather him play for us then against us.
I totally disagree with those
I totally disagree with those clubs being unable to deal with Carroll. Not going to explain my opinion on all the teams you mention but Carroll was so poor against Norwich he should have been subbed before half time! Poorest game I have seen from a player in claret and blue. I'm assuming carrolls role in kouyates goal is your point? All he did was cause confusion which someone like Adrian could have done that's hardly means they couldn't handle him as he did nothing in the other 90 mins. I do agree there are loads of different styles in them prem some of which he would be more effective. Maybe I should rephrase what I meant by too outdated for the modern game. What I meant was for OUR modern game and any progressive styles of play. For that you need movement and mobility which Carroll has very little of. I don't believe injuries are his fault, some players just always pick up injuries ala dyer. I do think his style could bring on more tho. There has to be something wrong at the club for so many injuries but I don't think all carrolls injuries are as a result of that, I remember when he picked up an injury for us a Newcastle fan said that's what he was like when he played for them always picked up injuries. There is no medical evidence just my opinion but the more long term injuries you get the more you lose as a player long term coming back. I have heard people wanting to get rid of Valencia but both he and sakho offer more for the team in terms of pace, movement and mobility. They also are available a bit more often than Carroll earn less have a better value to the team, have shorter term injuries and have been at the club for a shorter period of time. I know some of these things people may roll their eyes over this but sub- consciously does come into the whole picture judging a players worth to our team. Carrolls role should be as an impact sub but are we wealthy enough to let him sit on the bench as a bit part?
He didnt even start against
He didnt even start against Norwich, and i disagree about anyone else being able to cause confusion. He causes confusion because it takes more then one player to mark him. He never even had a long term injury really at newcastle really. Also as for our progressive style of play, we need a plan B not just as an impact sub but as a starter. Look at arsenal for example, are you telling me they couldnt benefit from having carroll in there squad there a typical example of a team who typically only play one way which is there own downfall. Also just look at the amount of players who get long term injuries then when they return get niggling injuries. Sakhos missed more games then carroll this season and Carroll missed the start of the season. Both have the same amount of goals. Carrolls played 1 more game then him but I bet Carrolls goal involvement is a lot higher then Sakhos and the fact before he got injured Sakho wasnt even getting in to goal scoring opportunities. A positive I see is that Carroll hasnt picked up a another long term injury since the one from the summer. I think he needs a full summer of rest and recovery then a full pre season before judging
My apologies he was defending
My apologies he was defending when he went down injured making me think he started in my mind. What did he do apart from the confusion? Hardly a game for you to prove a point in. He was poor beyond belief. Do you think he played well? There is no way arsenal could benefit from him in the team! Yes they need a plan b but more from midfield. Sakho may have been available for less games but most of Carroll games were sat on the bench as a bit part.bet sakho has had a hell of a lot more minutes. As for involvement in goals well that depends on what you regard as involvement sakho allows space for Payet, Moses, and Lanzini that has resulted in goals. Carroll only know one way to play that makes him a one trick pony. People's memories of how he has played this season seem to only go back 2 maybe 3 games. Maybe a full pre season would prove beneficial but how long do we wait for that? 2 seasons in a row he hasn't had one and I'm betting most people on here wouldn't put their mortgage on this happening anytime soon.
If you dont mind me
If you dont mind me mentioning it Fred i fail too see where Carroll would fit into the gooners side they get men forward in seconds and lots of them ,their entire game seems to be based on tight intricate passing in and around the box ,i think thats why they wont win the prem ,they want to walk the ball into the net ,Carroll would be in the way
Partially the point, maybe
Partially the point, maybe not arsenal but at the moment thats the only way arsenal can play. At times theyve been losing or drawing and have gone more direct and tried using crosses but to no Avail because a lack of a threat. Carrolls good to have as when fit it cane take more then one player to mark him.
Absolutely right Fred.When
Absolutely right Fred. When fit he is unplayable. He has had bad luck with injuries but when he plays we look terrific. I would never sell him and anyway he has a 6 year contract.
I can see both opinions on carroll...
Iit looks like im gonna sit on the fence again here... oh dear(that"ll upset some!!)...
Grand Master Flash
Heard the rumour again the other week, so don't do it.....
Swap Deal?
Liverpool can have Carroll back and we take Benteke? Liverpool fans are slating him and I think he looks totally uninterested in playing!
I'd definately do that swap
I'd definately do that swap
Zarate
Scored a couple of good goals but all round one of the most selfish players I have ever seen. The number of times he just ran into trouble, giving the ball away in the process, was pathetic!
Im afraid our new best friend
Im afraid our new best friend Payet was at the same thing Saturday night
