Good shout regarding 'Spotlight' - I've heard a lot of good things and will be booking it in for a visit! 'Revenant' I wasn't too fussed about - cinematically spectacular but not a lot of story and plot there, did feel it dragging a bit! Not a cinema release, but worth mentioning - has anyone seen 'Making A Murderer'? It's a documentary series on Netflix that I would highly recommend... Its about a very unusual case in America full of twists and surprises, very well put together.
I've just seen The Revanent on a dodgy download - If I had gone to the Pictures to see that I'd have left after half an hour and gone to Frankie n Nobbys for something to eat.....
any film rated for Oscars I normally do not watch they are just a luvvie fest......oh how I dreaded the time spent watch dances with wolves!!!....apart from the bear attack in the revenant the rest was utter rubbish
Me and the misses were hooked! I dont want to say too much in case others might watch but as with most things in life, if you read up on the actual case after, a few things come to light they didnt mention in the show that will leave you even more baffled as to whether he was innocent or guilty!
thought provoking.
Hateful Eight is a violence gore fest in the best Tarantino tradition, but lacks the sparkle to compete with his best work (Pulp Fiction).
However, Whiplash is still the best film I've seen in the last 12 months. And no, its not that kind of whip.....
I've been looking to watch Ex-Machina for quite some time now... I worked on the film during shooting but never got round to seeing it. Tarantino has been under par for a long time, I went off his work somewhat with 'Inglorious Basterds' and in a big way when he released 'Django Unchained'. 'Whiplash' is a great film though
thought unchained was pretty good , the bastards was crap ,not only far to long scenes but lots of subs , dont agree with you two on whiplash ,ok if your a ginger Baker or kieth moon fan
My all time best is still "the mission " closely followed by "once upon a time in america "
But a really good one is "we must talk about Kevin "starring the brilliant Tilda Swinton ,if it comes up on your tv listings make a point of watching it ,totally absorbing
Top film that one too mate...what about daniel day lewis?there will be blood...very dark but what a film, also going back a bit- my left foot & in the name of the father?Him & di caprio were superb in gangs of new york...but for me some of the best acting i have ever seen was his portrayal of Lincoln...
I want to watch this - heard a lot of good stuff about it. The director Denis Villeneuve does some quite interesting films, check out 'Incendies' if you haven't seen it. To a lesser extent, 'Prisoners' is good but goes off the rails a bit.
