Great news this morning, as West Ham finally confirm that Winston Reid has joined James Tomkins and Mark Noble in signing long term contracts with the Club. After months of speculation and links of a move away to Tottenham and Arsenal, it is outstanding news that Winston has been secured on a new six-and-a-half year contract. Again confirming the Chairman's long term vision and European aspirations for the Team.

Reid Stats

Reid was quoted as saying on the Official Site " “It’s one of those things that took a bit of time, but we got there in the end and I’m very happy to be here for the next part of my career. I’m looking forward to it. At the end of the day, for myself I feel comfortable here. I was speaking with the Joint-Chairman David Sullivan and everybody and felt like I was valued here. He was clearly very committed to getting the deal done and keeping me at the Club, so I’d like to thank him for that and I’m delighted to sign for the next six years. My family are happy living here too. We’ve been part of the Club living in London, so we weighed all the factors up and I’m delighted to be staying here."

A settled back four and keeper is vitally important to any side. If we can get Jenks signed up also we potentially have a stable defence for years to come.

Yes hope we can use the money that would have been needed to replace reid to get jenks and that will be a great bit of business done!

He has played 121 and missed 98 almost half that can't be right . That means he is almost as bad as Carroll .

Yes, you are reading that statistic correctly! It was pulled from Sky Sports data. It seems bad on the face of it, but what I will say in his defence is that it he hardly played under Grant.

He has had an up and down season and wanted a move at the start of the season. several teams enquired apparently but nothing concrete in terms of bids ever came in!
I got the feeling he did not like our style of football (neither do I and many fans either) and a move to a club playing better football was what he hinted at and wanted.
I said on another post that there has obviously been a change of heart after a meeting he had with David Sullivan! and it might just be a new manager next season! (he say's hoping :-)
