Sad day today for football. Johan Cruyff passed away from Cancer age 68. For me growing up he was a football hero. I was just too young for Pele, so Cruyff was the first superstar for me. Maradona was just a shit Jimmy Neighbour. Spent ages perfecting his Cruyff turn. RIP
cruyff turn
says it all really.....how many players have true piece of football genius/skill named after them.
A Legend, A genius
The champion who has changed football. R.I.P
His influence goes way beyond
His influence goes way beyond the "Cruyff turn". It was his all round ability as a footballer that made the so called "total football" of the Dutch national side what it was.
Many have stated that he was the greatest European Footballer ever but in my view he was the greatest all round player there's been.
At the end of his career he played for Feyenoord mainly in Central defence and was very effective in what was at the time a very strong league.
As great as they were/are, could you see Pele', Maradonna, Messi or Ronaldo doing that?
Cruyff was a true great of the game as a player, coach and visionary and his influence will remain long after most of us have gone.
R.I.P. the great man.
