Now that the findings have finally been made public and the real reasons for the Hillsborough tragedy have been unearthed, what will the Sun write as their headline? How will they apologise to the families and friends of the 96 Liverpool supporters whose lives were so cruelly taken? Sky have glossed over the newspapers coverage of the event at the time, particularly those by the Sun , if they had made the same allegations that they printed about one individual person instead of a group, they could have been taken to court for libel and slander. As it is the BBC have made a point of showing the scurrilous and hurtful headlines and stories the Sun ran, particularly those relating to people stealing from the deceased! Utterly disgusting journalism, whether you are a Hammers fan, any other football fan or anyone from any walk of life you should unite in your condemnation by boycotting the Sun and News International.
Rupert Murdoch was forced to close down the News of the World because of it's revolting betrayal of Millie Dowler's family, is it not time for the Sun to follow suit? - Ed

Well said that man....the Murdoch press and most of the tabloids are abhorrent. Pleased for the Liverpool 96 and their families, they have truly honoured their lost loved ones in fighting for justice. The only bit that does'nt sit easy with me is the total exoneration of Liverpool and it's fans. The police are to blame, the ambulance service are to blame, Sheffield Wednesday football club are to blame, the media are to blame...all these are correctly identified and must shoulder responsibility (some more than others). But the fans (whether with tickets, ticketless, late or drunk) are blameless....."REALLY". Innocent people have died and blame must be apportioned but not blindly. I am very fond of the city of Liverpool and it's people but it seems a taboo subject and one that you could get hung ,drawn and quartered for if suggesting that Liverpool FC fans may have had any responsibility in this tragedy.
Great post spud gun I can't
Great post spud gun I can't be glad for them until they admit some kinda responsibility for the tragedy. To totally exonerate them is wrong. Now they have some times on there hands perhaps they can chase the heysel disaster to clear their names on that one too
To say thousands of fans with
To say thousands of fans with or without tickets trying to force their way into Hillsborough did not cause or contribute to the disaster is an absolute joke . And to put the blame mainly on our emergency services is completely wrong, those fans forcing their way in should stand up and take responsibility for their part in the deaths of the 96
I have thought a lot about
I have thought a lot about this and i agree with with most of what you say outback ,the guy made the wrong decision to open that gate but taking everything into account and knowing that the outcome on the otherside of the gate was going to result in tragedy can you honestly put your hand on your heart and say you wouldn't have made that choice ,nothing can excuse the disgusting behaviour of the Sun ,the problem is lots of people still buy this publication, i know one thing if i had to live the rest of my life with this on my conscience i dont think I'd be here now
They were 'funnelled' by the
They were 'funnelled' by the police in to a 'safe' area, they were then prompted to enter the ground via the gate that the police commander had asked to be opened, much against the advice of officers on the ground. Those who made the vital decisions were using cctv from vehicles that were in place outside the ground only, those images ultimately led to incorrect and sadly fatal decisions made under extreme circumstances. Recently there was the anniversary of the bradford tragedy, but in that tragic incident there was complete cohesion in the comprehensive review, with the police being fully compliant and open.
I agree that errors were made
I agree that errors were made and David Duckenfield should be charge with lieing to the enquiry but to say that he unlawfully killed 96 people is simply not true ,he made a catastrophic mistake that led to these deaths ,dereliction of duty ,yes ,purjery yes but unlawfull killing ?
Make no mistake the familys want him burnt ,they want him to see out the rest of his years in a prison cell ,and if i was one of them i would more than likely feel the same ,like Bradford it was an accident waiting to happen
Some well made points but I
Some well made points but I have two questions .... 1 Andy Burnham served in two :Labour Governments as an MP and indeed a cabinet minister so why did he wait until he was in opposition to bring this review proposition to the WM table when he could have done so 8/9 years prior? 2 Will Merseyside Police pursue those who printed and sold to "unsuspecting " fans forged tickets for they also had a hand in those deaths. Of course those mentioned in the inquiry as part of the blame was correct , but as my fellow Hammers above have stated fans arriving late played a part.
Like or loathe David Cameron he was prompt in ordering the new inquiry, he didn't hide or try to protect the Tory administration of 1989.
