Smoke & Mirrors Tevez To West Ham An Indecent Proposal?

Ever since his arrival at the Old Boleyn Ground courtesey of the dubious enigma that is Kia Joorabchian and his multi million dollar' financial clearance house' Media Sports Investment, Carlos Tevez has courted controversy. West Ham ended up paying a £5 Million fine and a further £20 Million in unfair compensation payments to lower league strugglers Sheffield United for incorrect player registrations as both Tevez and Barcleona's Javier Mascherano were jointly owned by two different parties, contrary to FA and Premier League legislation. Despite this the Boca Juniors Argentine forward, ex of Manchester United, their bitter local rivals Manchester City and Juventus in addition to the mighty Hammers is still held with ultimate esteem by those of a claret and blue persuasion. It was argued, incorrectly, that Tevez alone helped prevent West Ham from being relegated in what was known as the 'Great Escape', his goal on the final day of the season at Old Trafford did ensure survival, although eventually the result was academic due to Sheffield United's inability to cope with the pressure of the final few games, which they lost.
Tevez 'the return' was always going to be difficult given his stature on the World stage, and so when news of West Ham United co-owner and majority share holder David Sullivan's efforts to re-sign Tevez broke it grabbed a few headlines, but was the bid just a bit of a cut price indecent proposal? Offer a player a king's ransom (£150,000 per week), safe in the knowledge that he wants a 'planet's ransom'( £250,000 per week), and the impression initially is one of what might have been, but in reality this was a relatively inexpensive but eventually cheap shot at publicity which was not merited! Could have, should have and would have transfer speculation are old school rhetoric for "cannot afford", although and unfairly not held in the deepest of esteem by some West Ham fans, Mr Sullivan along with Mr Gold has done wonders for the club since taking over, but really, both of them should know when to button it, other wise their good acts will be over shadowed by the banality of unnecassary bargain basement stunts. Hammers fans have been around the block in the past, they don't need falsehood just a bit of honesty! - Ed
