so it appears the board will make a decision at the end of the season. now considering the names in the 'frame' are Rafael Benitez, Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic and Roberto Mancini…..whats your opinion…should he go or stay? i think we have to rule out Benitez too as why would he leave Newcastle after going down with them and coming back up? others that would be 'in the frame' i suppose would be - Silva, Howe, Dyche. personally if we could get Silva then id be tempted to say its time for change. He could do a Pochetino if …big if, given the backing. not sure the rest would do anything better tbh.
For now im on the fence. Ill
For now im on the fence. Ill give him a couple months of the new season.
I'm still in Slavs corner.
I'm still in Slavs corner. But the owners need to get a grip of themselves. Keep their noses out, stop telling Bilic who they are going to buy and who they want him to pick each week. I'm surprised he even wants to work for them under their regime. Moreover who would be willing to be the next whipping boy as SUGO continue to interfere with the running of their train set. Pisses me right off!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come on mate, the board dont
Come on mate, the board dont have a say in who plays and who doesnt play and majority of the transfers were his this season. Why is it never Bilics fault? The owners havent done a huge amount wrong, just need to keep them quiet,
wont make any difference
benitez/mancini will want huge transfer funds so we all know that will not happen so the Fulham manager it would be as he can work with loans and freebies....but I fully expect Fulham to come up through the playoffs so I think bilic will keep his job
The three names on the list
The three names on the list I would drop them right away, certainly not better than Bilic. Personally I would keep Bilic and I would open the wallet to the owners and take home good players. Give another chance to bilic
Stay!
Im not his biggest supporter but I am feed up with revolving doors... Give him a chance!
I've never been one who calls
I've never been one who calls for managers to be sacked, but he would not have been my first choice - he wasn't even the board's 3rd choice it seems and the events of this season have left him with some difficult questions to answer.
If he goes, of the names mentioned I would rule out Dyche as I don't think he'd be the right fit at this point, and for different reasons I don't feel Mancini would be either. Forget Benitez as unless Ashley completely hacks him off I can't see him leaving Newcastle......yet.
Howe would be a bold appointment as would Silva and Jokanovic is a strong candidate if Fulham aren't promoted, but I think that Wagner at Huddersfield. is a stronger candidate than him.
Who knows? Bilic may survive, but I think it's 50/50 at the moment and if he goes we could get someone that is completely left field. To that end, whilst I think it's highly unlikely, I wouldn't be completely shocked if Nigel Clough was in the running. It's going to be an interesting few weeks
I'm pissed off with the
I'm pissed off with the revolving door we've got at West Ham now. G&S have created much or the constant uncertainty by opening their traps when they should keep them shut and failing to deliver in the transfer market then paying ridiculous fees for average at best players then laying the blame at the manager's door. I want Slav to stay end of. Consistency is key to success and constantly chopping and changing does no-one any good.
I'm pissed off with the
I'm pissed off with the revolving door too. By that I mean players as well as managers! Having said that it's now become a way of life in football. Allardyce was here quite a while. Personally I'd prefer us to have a decent manager who gets the best out of the players rather than one that has been around as long as wenger. Having said that maybe bilics position wouldn't be at threat if he had done this. There is a lot of things bilic has done that doesn't help himself. I believe if he stays we will go down, only the right signings and a new look at how he approaches everything will change that. There is certainly very little sign that bilic has the capacity to change his approach. If we go down there is even less chance he will bring us back up, which will result in the revolving door. Anyone (including me) who hates the revolving thing is living in the past I'm afraid. Unfortunately it's here to stay, it's yet another one of those things that makes football stink, and turns me away from modern football. I'm afraid bilic has burnt his bridges with me, but if we get the Fulham man in then what's the point?
Whether he stays or goes
I just wish he would give the young blokes a go instead of playing blokes out of position. Sending players out on loan is ok when they need experience but if they show signs of ability give them a go against the lesser teams like Sunderland to show what they can do. Our striker injury problems have been our undoing this season with the lack of Andy and Sakho and the useless by ins so we could have given the loanees a go. Let's face it they couldn't have done any worse.
Slaven has been a bit pigheaded with some of his team selections this year which has pissed of a lot of supporters but when it comes down to it the team has not lived up to the hype of last season so they haven't done him any favours. Let's hope that the board make the right decision and whether he goes or not and spend a bit on decent players coming in.
Hard question this.
It's a heart versus head thing for me. I suppose like Fred I'm inclined to say give him a few months of next season to give him another chance but the problem with that is what manager with experience of the good variety would be available then, not looking good. As much as I hate to say it all roads look to point towards a new manager and that for me is a sad thing to say in this instance.
Stay - One very good season,
Stay - One very good season, one not so good but with all the troubles we've experienced this time around (Slav must shoulder his fair share of responsibility obviously), I do think he deserves a chance to put things in order.
Go but only if we get a tried
Go but only if we get a tried and trusted quality manager to replace him.so that will probably mean he stays
catch 22
I would like to see him have ago for a couple of months next season, however who you going get to replace him at that point in the season as all the good ones will be in contract.
The only thing about giving
The only thing about giving him the start to next season and see how it goes, is does anyone trust Slav to bring in the players we need and the areas we need to cover? A new manager after a few months won't get the chance to. Remember Slav didn't/doesn't think we need a right back, and has spent all season avoiding buying or using one. That's the final straw for me that says he has to go. He isn't trustworthy in the transfer market.
