West Ham Transfer Business Decisions

Yesterday Karren Brady tried to drop Slaven Bilic in the blame for last season and up the pressure on him for this season. She said that the decsions about who to bring into the club belong exclusively to the manager, except for a small pot of money that David Sullivan uses for the "ones for the future". But as usual, she doesn't tell the whole truth. Maybe Slav proposes the targets, and he probably even ranks the targets, but Sullivan, Gold and Brady decide how much the club is willing to spend and whether or not to enforce a "one in, one out" policy (effectively also a position on how much to spend). And as we all know, those who hold the purse make the decisions. Slaven has as much as said it now with: I've left the Carvalho decision in the club's hands. It's up to (and I quote) "the people who MAKE these decisions". Now this not only shows where the real decisions lie, it also shows the tension building between the chairpersons and the manager. So will they fork out the money to get Carvalho? It's not in Slaven's hands. It's not the manager's decision. (Incidentally, Ms Brady seems also to have lied about "Athletics won't interfere with the start of the season again" since the Muller Games are set for 28-29 July next year.)

Ashes the board and even owners are really just businessmen and women they no nothing about football and what to look for in players so ultimately it is down to the manager after all he is the person they hire to make the club a success and also most managers are not businessmen of course they make a very nice living and are millionaires(at the top level)but he could not recommend what companies/shares etc to buy to make money he would ask people who work in that world what to do....now of course you get owners who interfere and dabble a bit in the market like mr sullivan does we all no he likes a french bargain but he does not pick the team or coach it he and the board do not have that expertise so again whilst i do not agree with ms brady coming out with those comments she is right in saying it is the managers responsiblity to get the team playing well and get results.
Now i like the fact i am not the only one who noticed that new athletics interference next summer because west ham are meant to have the keys to the stadium 2 weeks before the start of the season and Ms brady pointed out after this year with the world athletics championships which the club new about(shame they forgot to mention that to the fans)it could not happen again as we have priority lol who is she kidding the place is still a white elephant losing money thats why they have to rent it out more so cricket music events and i dont doubt american football as well...so Ms brady just rmbr we are tenants and do not have any real say in what goes on except when we play our home matches....glorified rentboys is what the club has become what a joke....of course we could well start next season away from home again that would save there bacon!

I'm no supporter of the board ashes, but are we reading too much into this? Apart from sullivans little pot of ones for the future I'd say it was a normal way of doing it. Very few managers will have no restraints on their transfer dealings. I just hate the way everything is so needlessly public. Can't believe that athletics meeting! Do we know when the league season starts next year? And is this meeting definately at the LS. Christ I just checked, it is at the LS. What makes Brady think this wouldn't come out? Why can't they move this back a week? At least it's only a 2 day event.

I think todays man u v Swansea will tell us more about west ham ,you see i believe manua are not as good as all the media are making them out to be ,sure Lukaku was on fire against us but our back four were tits ,i dont think Rashford will amount to much ,to hit and miss ,Pogba ?well nouf said ,Marcial hes had his chance Mata approaching his best before date ,two pluses for them are their G K and Matig the reason im goin on about them is because if the Swans can contain them then i believe it will give us a good indication the state of play at west ham ,knowing my history of floored analysis I'll probebly be made to look a complete egit and Shearer 's darlings will hammer the Swans 5 or 6. Burkie, I agree that manure probably ain't the real deal like the media say, I do however think itl take more than the game against Swansea. As for us, it seems clear the formation bilic wants I'm just not sure it's the best for the players we have! It's the third season now since bilic arrived and we seem less likely to be able to play his favoured formation. Surely it's time for him to look at what he has and play the best formation that reflects that? Whereas it seems he has decided that's what he wants to play and will crowbar players into it. If he wants to play that way we need 1 maybe 2 exceptional dm's on a higher plane than we currently have. Of course this could change by the end of the month, but if not he should forget his fav formation. We did far better last season when we adopted 3 at the back. Surely it's more about what actually works rather than being stubborn or lacking common sense.

If he's got an addiction no other club would touch him with a 10ft barge pole. Who would have thought we'd be able to retain a player for the length of his contract when he signed huh?

because the club decides how much it's willing to pay. you're right to say arnautovic and chicharito are bilic picks. i'm not 100% sure about Hart --I think Sully had a say in that. But I bet Bilic wanted Iheanacho, Dembele, Carvalho, etc. So it's not really correct of Brady to say it's all up to the manager. RNI is right, though, that this is the normal WAY of doing business. I just thought Brady was putting pressure on SBthe way she put it. Think Dicksy is right that the blame game has started. A win today would ease things.
