Downing up front/behind Valencia? Or is it a 4-5-1 in disguise? Where is Poyet, he should be starting in place of Nolan!!

If he sets up to defend, I'm gonna break the habit of a lifetime, and boo him... he might not hear it all the way from Spain, but I think he'll hear plenty more paying customers telling what they think of him.

Red card and a European spot in the offing for the Hammers. Great Kouyate and Valencia combination.

Aye... Soaking in the rays in south of Italy, keep the commentary flowing though - would like to hear fans perspective rather than BBC updates!

Pretty poor stuff. Adrian's been in action more than their keeper. Ref is card happy. Hope for a better second half, but expect Sam to go defensive and them to equalise in the last 10.

Thanks mate sounds like a west ham special... Ah well I've adopted U.S Lecce as a second club, relegated to Italian 3rd due to owners dodgy dealing...

Valencia should have had a brace. Crosses and through oases in the box still poor.

Same old story! we are 1-0 up (very lucky) and Burnley are still having the best chances as we stick to 4-5-1 and they play 3-4-2 with one man down. Can you see Allardyce now going for it second half????? He would have to take his mate Nolan off and put Poyett on to do that!
I still think it's going to be a draw (1-1) but hopefully we will score early in the second half and get a win!

Hopefully Amalfi will step up - but without getting sent off .. Despite the dross which I can only imagine, well done to Mark Noble Penalty King!

This game is getting stressful. Adrian then has to keep us in it. Then we miss a second sitter. Come on Amalfitano and Valencia you need to score otherwise we desperately need Nene. The dinosaur of a referee gives a yellow as Downing goes down. Downing had to avoid that tackle as it was a rash one.

Finally Nene maycome on. Otherwise panning out like the 1-0 win against 10 strong Hull last season.

Is he playing ? .. Oh he was .. Hmm now there's a White Elephant {Nene] coming on .. Personally I think it's nothing short of a Disgrace the way Allardyce has treated Nene since he arrived !

Better second half, and credit Sam with at least not shutting up shop today. Still, at home against the bottom side a man down almost the whole game it was acceptable at best. Drop Downing next week please.

Downing was awful. But we won and jump back up to ninth, should have scored more but Heaton had an unbelieveable game with some great saves

With Stoke and Everton losing and Swansea out of sight this is the best position we can try to hold on to. At least Sam did not shut shop but should have given Nene more playing time. Nene could have scored a cracker in the last second of full time, but for that great save by the joint best player on the field. Yes, the two keepers were outstanding today and you have to salute them. The rest of the players were either okay, mediocre or stood out like Cresswell, Kouyate, and Collins. Burke was pretty good and is gaining experience. With Everton and a vastly improved Aston Villa likely to pose a few questions about West Ham's resilience in the final matches, it could be the difference whether we can maintain a top ten finish, and an extension to BFS contract, plus European football, or say goodbye to Sam after a typical average position in the bottom half.
