Eze Or Isn't He?

QPR's Eberechi Eze could arrive at the London Stadium with Jordan Hugill travelling in the opposite direction, Hugill enjoyed a successful season on loan at Loftus Road and a deal looks as if it could happen. QPR will be looking to get top dollar for the very talented Eze, but the current financial climate will make that a difficult proposition, using Hugill as a make weight in the deal will appeal to all parties with Hammers being able to recoup a significant amount of the £10 Million they paid for the striker, it is believed Hugill and another £10 Million would be enough to seal the deal.

The £10 Million outlay for a young and hungry established player is within Hammers strict budgetary constraints, however any other acquisitions will most definitely have to be funded by player sales. Although the high profile signings of Sebastain Haller and Felipe Anderson will be the signings most likely to move on IF suitable funding can be provided by their suitors, but Hammers fans also need to face up to the fact that Grady Diangana is hot property and would be sought after by many clubs, clubs willing to invest in a talent that will only grow in value.

As we mentioned in our previous article, the need for two new full backs is acute, as is firming up the back up for Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena and Winston Reid are both on the books and could 'do a job' especially if they are there purely as back ups. At 32 years old Ogbonna probably only has one more excellent season in the tank, so moving on in time a replacement will eventually have to be found.

Albian Ajeti is another one who is surplus to requirements, there is no way the club will be able to recoup the £8 Million he cost, but he could fetch £5 Million. As it is unlikely that any club would be foolish enough to stump up anywhere near the £45 Million the Irons paid for him, Sebastian Haller will probably be at the London Stadium for another season, perhaps he will come good, although all the signs are that he is definitely NOT a David Moyes type of footballer.

Slim pickings indeed. - Ed

The Eze deal makes sense. Can inflate both players fees for tax purposes and both players would want to go permanently. Eze comes into the LW position or 10 and we can sell Anderson and Lanzini.

Does David Moyes know his players fully? I don't think so!
He has had a very disjointed start to his second spell as manager (three spells in a way with the Lockdown and restart). From what he said after the Villa game he hinted that with the £200m spent during Pelligrinis reign, money is not available for the distant future and he looks to have been told, buy cheap from the lower divisions or sell first before bringing in any decent players.
He is a solid manager with no frills and expects hard work in training and on the pitch. Haller, Anderson and even Lanzini probably not his type of players but if he cant sell them he has to re-educate them and like some I do not see that working and all our expensive players being used as substitutes or left out entirely.
Hope we don't see an influx of Championship players because midtable beckons with this approach or even worse relegation.
We will see over the coming weeks during the transfer window.
Moyes long ball counter attacking football is still not the type of football I want to watch, I had enough of that under Sam Alladyce but perhaps under the financial restraints its what we are going to get for the next few years until real money becomes available again.

Be nice to just have a few years of mid table mediocrity, the odd good cup run and give Spudz a pasting! To win home games than we lose, make the BoM a fortress, bring a bit of pride back to East London!

But then the fans always say "he took us as far as he could, we need to take the next step up" I remember those plums at Charlton saying that about Curbs... where are they now!

The dildos cloud cuckoo fantasy land vision of champions league footie at scaffold towers is not going to happen, their hasnt been any real memorable moments as of yet,but if next season Moyes can continue to take this team forward, that have been very watchable since lockdown with 2 or 3 decent british additions, I'm sure the place would get better

The Eze deal makes good sense, and bargaining with Hugill makes an even better proposition, you cannot compare the two,Hugill is at his level at QPR,Eze has greater potential.

Hopefully there will be more smart deals like that of Bowen and Soucek who contributed a lot to keep the Hammers in the Premier Division. I expect more loans deals with a buyout clause in the future. Yes, the Eze deal even with Hugill marching in the opposite direction is a smart deal. Eze has to prove himself. But Diangana will definitely be a part of Moyes' future endeavours and West Ham should not sell him to West Bromwich. We have made big errors in getting rid of the likes of Junior Stanislas in the past. He would have been an asset to the club over the years.
