Jack Wilshere is an easy target for fans, fan sites and the media in general, his few appearances have until recent years always held the promise that 'one day, maybe', he would return to the superb footballer that he was originally destined to be. Wilshere is still only 28 years old, he should be in his prime but instead he is in decline.
Unfortunately he has had more 'false dawns' than an Eastender's script or the many countless Labour Party resurrection attempts. During his two season tenure with West Ham United Jack Wilshere has legally 'stolen' £10 Million from the club in wages, the ex-England midfielder has appeared just 18 times for the Irons in two years since his arrival from Arsenal, which equates to the staggering cost of £555,000 per game! We had to look at the figures repeatedly just to (a) make sure we hadn't missed a decimal point, and (b) Just comprehend the profligacy of his signing, David Sullivan's "I told you so" is of little compensation to the club as they now have to pay the price of 'going large' via the 'Pelligrinophile'.
It is NOT Jack Wilshere's fault he was handed such a generous long term contract, but even he would admit how ludicrous the terms of the deal were given his long term injury history, and as such he must be prepared to be the brunt of fan annoyance and take it on the chin, after all he does bank £50,000 per week after tax and NI contributions and of course the 10% to his agent is also paid by the club!
Even if the club can save £2.5 Million by subsidising his 'release' from the club, then it is an avenue they must pursue, they say " Charity begins at home", but a Barclays Premier League Club is far from a home, time for Jack to go home, after all it is where the heart is!
