The drama surrounding Benrahma has continued at a pace, the on off deal is on again, but now the player is arriving on loan instead of on a permanent basis, but with an obligation to buy. The exact reasons for this turnaround are shrouded in mystery, but that won't matter to Hammers fans who will almost certainly have prepared themselves for a 'transfer fell through at the last minute' scenario, the exact details of the players arrival will doubtless reveal themselves in the course of time, but in the mean time perhaps the much maligned David Sullivan might take a bow.
Having been spanked remorselessly in the past with the signings of Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere to name just two, although there are plenty more candidates, David Sullivan in particular has dug his heels in and insisted in additional security with regards the signing on a five year deal worth potentially £35 Million for a player that has had a 'medical' issue revealed.
Hindsight is a wonderful but inaccessible commodity, so the next best alternative is to try and look at to the consequences of key decisions and how things might pan out. Perhaps it seems a little unfair that Said Benrahma's transfer should come under such scrutiny, but once bitten twice shy would be an understatement when it comes to West Ham United's acquisition of players who spend most of their time in the medical room, so fair play to the Irons boss for insisting on an extra layer of protection.
We rarely praise the owners on this site, after all we're not Claret & Hugh (DDoS Experts!) However in this instance we are happy to do so, consider for one moment if the club had just ploughed ahead in bringing Benrahma in without going for a 'forensic' medical, and the player then developed a 'hidden' medical issue? Everyone would be saying "useless owners, don't know what they are doing!" So they are damned if they do, and damned if they don't.
Loan to buy seems to be the 'new' template for Hammers future business, and it's not a bad way to go! - Ed

This mornings news about a medical drew up the normal conclusions - here we go again another bed to be made up in the physio room....but a loan with a view to a permanent deal makes sense,pity sully didnt do the same with Haller

Probably a good compromise, pity the money raised by sales and contract terminations couldn’t have been used more effectively to bolster a depleted squad. Perhaps it will go to reducing our high interest charges. Moyes is supposed to be good at bringing young players through so bring on Cardozo and Coventry.

to Sully it was Big Sam who wanted big AC , Sully was not keen, Kieron Dyer was a big expense again not down to Sully and I understand it was Pell who wanted Wilshire, this time round he has played a blinder.
