Its that time of year again so i thought i would hark back to the first west ham transfer which really hit home with me and it was of non other than Phil Parkes for the princely sum of £565thousand from QPHAA cossack hairspray and all....i rmbr the papers with pics of big Phils hands as he was then the most expensive GK in the world and lil ol west ham did that..it blew my socks off....i just about rmbr Martin Peters being sold to the spuds(will we never learn)so what was your standout Hammers transfer buy?

My first real memory was when Martin Peters went to Spuds which was made somewhat easier as my favourite non Hammer was Jimmy Greaves came to us.

Knew you would say that, but what about Bonzo in his Prime? Him, Frank Snr and Graham Paddon all had side burns and long locks, they looked like buccaneers as well as wearing the shortest shorts you could ever imagine ( or fantasize) about!

The one I remember was Francois Van der Elst. But have to agree with Moore 6 Legend. Devonshire had to be the greatest transfer ever. He would be priceless today in his pomp.

... made some real game changing purchases, Hartson and Kitson and the Two Paulo's.. Wanchope and Di Canio but my favourite was business by John Lyall ..........Frank McAvennie!

Worst signings in my time, John no goals Radford, Julien Faubert but my all time favourite Sandy Clark, what a waste of space. Remember the first time I saw him in claret n blue, preseason friendly against Charlton at the Valley, seen milk turn quicker! Again bought by JL... just shows you what a difficult job it is!

Braces in the previous rounds of the Cup too? Unreal...the only thing that was weird in that great cup final win was seeing mooro leading out Fulham just didnt seem right

For me it has to be Billy Jennings from Watford in 1974, he banged in a few goals and ouside of Bonzo was my favourite Hammer as a 10 year old boy....

First transfer that I can remember is Peter Eustace. Remember reading that one on my paper round and think who the fk is he? Standout? Pop Robson. Both times.

Love it! Remember my Dad saying Useless Eustace.. I thought it was a bit harsh. Pop Robson in his last days at WH I thought he was poor / past it. That said his goal scoring record was brilliant. I think David Psycho Cross took over from him?

I went up to Man U a few seasons back, mid week game, pretty sure we lost but, before the game met a lovely couple in the near by Burger King, strong Northern accents but Hammers through and through. I asked why they supported WH and the young lady replied that her Uncle played for us in the 70's but you probably never heard of him...Psycho!!!!

When Pop Robson came back the second time he was poor, and felt David Cross got lazy towards his end.We had our ups and downs in th 70s and early 80s,and had some good players, the likes of Bonds and Lampard were main team regulars proper hard men,not like now different times, but back then were great times,FA Cup twice in 5 years, and nothing since, though i think if we can keep a strong place in the league, without the worry of relegation,we can play the strongest team possible, and perhaps go for a cup or two
