Jesse Lingard's 'whirlwind' love affair with West Ham has sparked a plethora of comments regarding his future once his loan deal expires, true he did score a brace on his debut, quite an achievement for a player who had not started a Barclays Premier league game for over a year.
If you analize Lingard's performance it was full of energy and direction, however it should be remembered that the Villa keeper had a total 'mare' in goal and that BOTH Lingard's goals could and would have been kept out on another day. Without wishing to detract from such a good debut, perhaps it is better to reserve judgement on the player's potential for the Irons until after today's early evening match against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
We are of course assuming that Lingard will be in the starting eleven, however David Moyes may decide to rest him for part of the match due to his lack of game time in the last twelve months, if he does play, and scores again then and only then should fans start to dream, and unfortunately even if he does continue. in a rich vein of form then his parent club will demand more money for his services.
So, the irony is, the better Lingard plays for West Ham, the more money West Ham will have to pay Manchester United for him should David Moyes want to turn the loan move in to a permanent one, and finally there is one other MAJOR issue, and that is: Lingard's trademark 'tongue stuck out the mouth' goal celebration could see the player seriously injured if a player like Vlad 'the impaler' Coufal jumps on his back from distance, Lingard could quite easily bite his tongue off, now that would be seriously West Ham! - Ed
NB: This article is a bit 'tongue in cheek', but it is relevant!

That was the only Downside
His tongue out of the mouth routine was reminiscent of Sturridge's silly tongue out dance, call me old fashioned but I'd prefer to see a bit of old school dad dancing from a Hammer!!;)

My Concerns...
As much as I was enthused and excited about his performance and the win, there were a couple of things that I reflected on afterwards.
I honestly believe that he can only get better due to his lack of football, although I do agree that both goals were down to the goalkeeper's poor attempts for both goals.
Lingard has not been playing because he's not being part of Ole's future plans, even though experience and ability-wise he is more than good enough. He has now been placed in the shop window with a winning team, at a club where it is almost certain he will play.
Firstly they will be looking to make decent money with a high transfer fee for a 28-year-old player and secondly, he is on 100K/week wages. I doubt that we will have a big transfer budget this summer and this could affect other areas of our rebuilding process.
This is something that will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
