Ghosts were laid to rest this lunchtime, unfortunately there might also have been an as yet unconfirmed, but unprecedented amount of calls to the London Ambulance service! West Ham United are GENUINELY in the top four of the Barclays Premier League, Hammers opponents in today's game, Tottenham are now in NINTH place, on 36 points, albeit with a game in hand.

When David Moyes was reappointed as West Ham manager the second time around, his arrival was greeted underwhelmingy by the vast majority of Hammers supporters, but boy has he, and his team, proved the doubters wrong! This was the first time a team managed by David Moyes has beaten a Jose Mourinho side.

It is hard to find fault in the performance put in by Moyes's boys, but special credit has to go to Tomas 'schwarzenegger' Soucek for his 'Terry Butcheresque' performance where he truly added 'claret' to the blue of his team colours. Not to be out done, Soucek's Czech Republic compatriot Vladimir Coufal, also sustained what would normally be a 'subbed off' injury but elected tostay on the pitch, they don't half build them tough in the Czech Republic.

Having gone ahead through Big Mich Antonio, and then compounded the advantage with a third goal in four games for Jesse lingard, Hammers prepared for what was going to be the inevitable Tottenham 'surge', which they tried to accomplish by having too many forward players to shake a stick at. They got one back via a superb header by Lucas Moura, but Hammers held firm, with a little bit of help from the woodwork, tosee out the game.

What a result, it wasn't just the win, it is the way the team set about it, the nay sayers will say "yeah but it cannot continue, they will be found out by the end of the season" well you know what? The season only has thirteen match days remaining! - Ed

There used to be a saying not so long ago that if your team was on a bad run of winless games, play West Ham to get it back on track.
Only Liverpool have managed that against us this season but they they are back to losing again and not getting it back on track. I think Spurs came here today hoping to get their game back on track and nearly did but for two very good goals from us. Nervous finish Nev but this team of ours is very hard to beat. The style we have is different to what many hammers fans have seen over the years, very strong at the back and so fast on the counter attack. We might just make that top 4 by the end of the season, that would be something.

Surely this is a very strange championship, pass me the deadline, but contrary to what I thought, Moyes is doing a great job, not only tactically, but also in the locker room; there is a nice group. The Soucek terminator is too fundamental an element for this team. Let's enjoy this moment, we are the best team in London COYI

We got away with it today.......they passed the ball better they kept possession better.......but what they did not do better was battle and fight which is what we have in abundance and we all know we are a work in progress for sure but a team of fighters beat a team of prima donnas that the spuds are ....enjoying top four and its nice to dream of champions league...and if us being up there puts a few noses out of place then keep it coming COYI

spot on Mc, we rode some luck but we kept fighting and to his credit this was also referenced by Jose Mourinho said after the game. Still buzzing, there's just nothing nicer than beating the Spudz!!!

There is alot of has beens in their team, the manager aswell and it is showing, mourinho has run out of ideas with them...kane,ali,bale,dier even loris in my opinion have had their day, they may of had posession, but they couldnt break us down,or wasnt clinical enough on goal like we were, after the crossed hammers with Lingard,in my opinion he wants to stay already, lets hope so.

Loved the hammers sign Linguard gave straight after the goal. Cant understand why Man U let us take him on loan. Long may he keep on scoring goals and playing the way is at the moment.

I've got to disagree with some of what you say essex ,you've only got to look at the pumeling we had to withstand for the last 20 mins ,imo Kane is still in the top 5 in the world ,Bale is just starting to make the transition back to the prem ,agree about Dier but there again so do most spuds fans ,their G K ?sure he may be aproaching his sell by date but it seems to happen very quickly with keppers ,ala manua and the hub caps .
They proberbly know by now they made a mistake appointing that Portuguese plonker ,he put his giant plates right in it in his post match interview on motd ,imo hes got 2 more losses before they get rid

I feel Spurs are hanging onto what they had a few seasons back, thats why they got Bale back, but these players are getting older,Kanes a donkey now,no where near as sharp as he was,and the same for Deli Ali.At the end they threw all they had at us,but i feel we more than contained them, and that includes Mr Chow Mein Son.The Moany One has ran out of ideas with the team he has there, they are yesterday men,him aswell.

Anybody else see a bit of the fantastic Billy Bonds in Tomas Soucek ? To jump up to defend a shot immediately after your eye has been split open is a bit special.

Potato salad anyone ?

This business end of the season is when we're normally looking around at ALL of the results at the lower end of the table..... It's Unbelievable, the times that we are in.
Bucket list..... spuds supporters crying their eyes out...... TICK.
I'll agree that many were underwhelmed when Moyes was reappointed..... But for me, it was a sheer relief to get rid of Pellegrini and a light-bulb moment for me that we were looking for managers in All the wrong places, when we should've kept Moyes the first time around rather than gambling with all of those big-name mercenaries.
There were also many cries for Carlo Ancelotti.... but I Never fancied him and still don't, as I consider managers like him as short-term option managers....2-3 years tops.
Moyes has torn-up every negative thrown at him... from being a dinosaur & tactically poor, his transfer record and even his substitutions..... all I hear now is tumbleweeds regarding those comments... which were nonsense, to begin with anyway. 5-year contract (or 3 plus 2-years option). 1986 was a LONG time ago, and so many are expecting us to implode...This is a New West Ham and I keep rubbing my eye's.
Here's to looking up... COYI

I bet the dildos are very smug at the moment, they didnt even really fancy moyes, certainly after his first term! Got the world class manager pel in instead & the rest is history! They should bloody well give him a lucrative contract, cos out of astonishing good luck, the value of westham United has probably rocketed being 4th in the prem

i'm eating a large slice at the moment. was never a fan of ol bugeyes but being proved wrong. He has managed to address all the issues starting with a good back room staff, team spirit, strategy, focus, fitness, attitude, winning mentality... its all there and all thanks to the Moyessiah. Top man... just loving the ride, worry about City later!!! :o)

Funniest thing yesterday was the camera on Bales face when he nearly scored that worldy. He said Motherfudgcake, well the potty version anyway. He is such a class player and too good for the Spuds. Lingard is winning me over at a rate of knots, I never thought I'd be saying that. As for our 2 Eastern Europeans, they show the rest of the Premier League pansies up, real hard men who play the real game. The team under Moyes is something I thought I'd never see again in my 52 years as a supporter. I've waited a long time for this so will enjoy every minute...

I have had to serve 59 years of a 65 year stretch , so you are lucky! But it has been worth waiting for, even if we fail at the final hurdle.

With your reference to Soucek & his Swarzenegger attitude (stitch me up & I'll be back). Surely he must now have earned the nickname ' Arnie' Terminator 2!
