As we are now well into the last 48 hours of the January transfer window, fervent activity and furrowed brows are the order of the day for those clubs needing reinforcements, West Ham fall into the want rather than need players category, but nevertheless it is squeaky time' at Goose Green and the Brady Bowl.

There is always an element of denial involved during the window and traditionally for Hammers fans, hope is invariably followed by despair, hotly pursued by disappointment with recrimination following up from the rear! It seems as if every window the old "we tried, blah blah blah" gets rolled out, well this transfer window IS DIFFERENT!

The end result might be the same, but the circumstances ARE entirely different, thanks to Daniel Kretinsky's initial investment in West Ham the club is able to table 'meaningful bids' for the type of player normally associated with the 'elite six', it doesn't mean the deals will come off, but at least they ARE real offers and not the usual smoke and mirrors fare fans have been served up on a generational basis.

The numbers are baffling though, has the club really bid these amounts?

Hugo Ekitike €40 Million
Kalvin Phillips £50 Million
Raphinha £50 Million

Almost certainly NOT, has the club bid 'large' for one of these players? Most definitely YES, however the 'easiest' of the tree player transfers would be the most risky, namely that of 19 year old Hugo Ekitike who has seen his value go up by 1000 % from €4 Million to €40 Million in the space of only SIX MONTHS!

Ekitike might be Europe's hottest young striker, but it would be a hell of a risk to buy him outright now for such a sum, IF a loan to buy deal can be struck then Moyes and Newman or M&N for short simply MUST pull the trigger. The Leeds United duo of Raphinha and Phillips offer is another thing entirely and on the face of it makes little sense.

That is not to say David Moyes doesn't covet one or both players, but given Leeds United's precarious Premier League position it can be assumed that they will NOT sell either player during this window, UNLESS there are 'elements' that are not in the public domain regarding the club's finances.

Andrea Radrizzani is the majority shareholder who has several media businesses as well other start up companies, however the Covid Pandemic has seriously affected his companies across the board leading to a great deal of unwanted 'cross collateralisation. This may be an unwarranted assumption, for which we apologise, but there is NO WAY David Moyes would put his name to a bid unless there was SOME substance, so we can only assume that Leeds ARE in financial difficulties that are NOT in the public domain, hence the bids for their star players.

It will all be over soon, but we have a feeling there is a deal in the air, problem is we can honestly say we have absolutely NO IDEA which one if the three it will be! -LN

Kalvin Phillips?? What a load of tosh! Now we are being linked with a loan move for Benteke? Absolute embarrassment. Is this what Rob Newman is being paid thousands of pounds for? All the good work of the last 18 months gone. Thrown out the window.
