The blame game, as expected has gone into overdrive following Hammers 'disastrous' January transfer window. Questions have been rightly raised as to exactly why a new head of recruitment, a new investor and a very experienced manager were still Not able to put right the club's transfer woes.
The ramifications of NOT adding players are two fold, firstly it is asking an astonishing amount of the current squad to get through the remainder of the season without reinforcements and secondly, perhaps more importantly is what effect the club's apparent lack of ambition will have on stars like Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen, BOTH players having been actively 'courted', or tapped up as we call it, by the 'big teams' and as expected the Press are having an absolute field day!
Hammers dreadful month of failed transfers is 'manna from heaven' for the media, starved of 'copy' since the window closed. The Rice to this club and that club stories that had gone off the radar when Hammers were holding their own at the Premier League's summit have returned with vengeance.
The club could have avoided ALL of the 'washing it's laundry in public' element by clearly stating it had little or NO intention of adding players during the window, the news would have initially been greeted with anger and bewilderment, but at least it would have been HONEST!
After all, the end result is the same, except the little trust fans had started to give the board has dissipated, or faded and dies to paraphrase Bubbles. Some neutral observers question why fans sing Bubbles as the club's anthem because it has "a sad ending", on the face of yesterday's inactivity many of those were shown why Bubbles is indeed incredibly apt! - ED

I hate to say it but this was
I hate to say it but this was our one big chance to establish ourselves as a top 4 team - and the board blew it. Pretty sure Rice won't hang around for next season, nor will Bowen when we finish this season just inside the top 6. We had the momentum but we didn't take our chance. Hope I'm wrong
If we finish top 6
Again,I'll be more than happy...can't see it myself. As for the dildos, they don't do honest & never have.Theres a reason why our signature tune ends with "like my dreams they fade & die!!"
so
do i .Rice will leave anyway, think he has refused 2 contracts
oh well
its in moyes we have to trust .As has been said, he may well start giving our youth team players a run out
Hope
so elthammer
Read on an another forum that
Read on an another forum that we stand to lose upto 10 players in the summer. Noble (retirement), Kral & Alphonse (Loan), Yarmalenko, Fredericks & Randolph out of contract. Think there is another. Then Masuaku (crap) & there is no certainty with Ogbonna. Throw in Rice & Bowen who will be on their toes plus the shortage already. We are fucked!
Sullivan will come into his own buying shit has beens.
Well. We've all enjoyed the ride. But alas. That Echo & the Bunnymen song now springs to mind. " Nothing ever lasts forever!
methinks
Bowen will stay but by by the rest
Doom and gloom
We all really have short memories dont we? Last window we did brilliantly. This time not so hot. It happens. None of us really know what went on. Perhaps Moyes decided there was simply nothing worth what was being asked that was better than what he had. Perhaps half the stuff the media said we were in for was garbage. Last few windows we got Benrahma, Bowen, Souchef, Zouma, Coufal … how we cheered. One bad window and the knives are out. Just maybe they are planning to save money for summer Window. Perhaps the focus will be on Europe for a Championship league spot and not so much the league. Perhaps Moyes sees something in the academy that we are not seeing. Who knows, but the way fans are throwing their toys out of the pram because of one bad window stinks. Be supporters get behind your team instead of moaning like spoilt brats.
Have to say I'm with Brooking
Have to say I'm with Brooking here. I said previously, nobody knows the situation. Moyes may well have been pulling his hair out also. We'll never know for sure. We have a happy squad, bringing in the wrong kind of players as panic buys etc could upset the apple cart.
I also think more youngsters are going to appear in the latter part of the season. Yes we will get injuries and all the I told you so's will come out. But I'm sure we'll manage, we always do.
Personally I'm not bothered we never signed anyone and if players want to leave at the end of the season they will already of made their minds up by now. I'm just gonna see what happens. Havent supported the club for 53 years to start worrying now about things...
agree
with you there boogers 65 years with me
Not bothered in the slightest!
We are way short of being a top 4 side & if we were the expectation would be there all the time....if we became like the manures, spuds, gooner fans whingeing cos we weren't in the champions league every year I'd knock it on the head for good! Everyone knows that the January window is a joke,50 mill bids for Raphina & Phillips at Leeds! Don't make me laugh the tykes have taken years to get back in the prem as if they would sell their best players...My gripe is only with the dildos & Brady, best chance they've had of showing ambition, moving forward & as ever they're only it for the dough
lifes like a box of chocolates
so they say
Spoilt Brat here, Not sure
Spoilt Brat here, Not sure some on here have not seen GSB in action before. Here was a great opportunity to add a striker and a defender both around £15m each (Leeds players never going to happen) these were European players which were pulled at the last minute by GSB, why, we will never know but it does end our chance of a top 6 place with the injuries we have and the ones that will happen. We do not have a decent back up and with two games coming each week now our season may just wind down to mid table, 5th round FA Cup and possibly quarter final in the Europa Cup. Will Declan stay? we wait and see but knowing GSB they will let him go if they can get £60-80M for him.
I can see Decs waiting
until the last week of the summer transfer window and if we haven’t made a couple of significant signings then making a decision. Same with Bowen. Moyes and the club need to start early to get the players they need instead of leaving it till it’s too late. We are going to need at least six or seven quality players to replace those that are out of contract but I think a couple of the young players will get a chance to prove they can handle playing in the Premier league by the end of this season.
