The Season Starts Now!

Hot on the heels of the club's most recent signing, news is emerging from all over the place of yet more signings, possibly as many as FOUR! Of course the head line grabber is Lucas Paqueta.

As we publish this article, the Paqueta deal is pretty much done and dusted, whilst deals for Adnan Januzaj, Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja could be in the pipeline as well.

Thilo Kehrer, Emerson Palmieri have already signed up in the last week and Hans Vanaken looks set to join them in addition! As a result Hammers look far better equipped to get the season underway now, the three Premier League defeats can become a thing of the past if the new players are able to bed in quickly.

Fans may well ask why it has taken up until now for the club to become so actively involved in transfers, they are right to do so, but the reality is that despite their view Hammers fans think the club is way bigger than it actually is.

The 'purchase' pecking order dictates that certain clubs have 'first dibs' at all the best talent, they are then followed by the best of the rest, Hmmers are only just approaching the best of the rest level, their progress blighted by the likes of Newcastle, Everton and Forest, the aforementioned club's excesses are setting a dangerous 'spend precursor' that could seriously impact the market.

However, whichever way you look at it the club have spent big during this window and while it would have been preferable for all the new signings to have been in place a couple of weeks ago they are at least in situ.

Some might say it is too little to late, while others might say "well done". - Ed

Oi big boy, what's your name?

Wow. If this lot rock up I would be impressed. Just hope the board don't rest on their laurels if we need strengthening in Januaty.

Hang on a minute, short memories here, this lot coming in,no one is leaving,so this new lot will come along to sit on the bench and watch the old lot.....Ok,a bit of sarcasm there, but you must get a team to be a team, which will take time,in which time we may just make 17th.......Thats if they all come.

Lol Mac,like that about next season....If all true,we seem to now be grabbing at anything,we certainly dont want a bunch of misfits....A club with any sense gets a player to tweak a bit here and to enhance a bit there, where needed, planning its called, seems rather a pannick now.

to liverpool if they can struggle so can we but we do need to start these new signings sooner rather than later and stop giving away penalties and score a bleeding goal for christ sake

I've just dropped Scamacca from my Fantasy Team so I'd say the betting odds would be Scamacca will start.

I strongly believe that Moyes believes he’s doing the right thing holding back new signings. He’s very old school and very low risk in his approach. He rarely ‘switches things up’ and at times dithering Dave is appropriate. The board’s preference for a bargain and waiting for what’s available always hurts us. I’d prefer the network scouted clear preferences (laid out to them in advance) and then the Board simply made it happen (even if potentially lesser players than what might pop up late at the opportunity shop). This linking with 50 odd players every year I feel unsettled the group, delays integration and training and leaves us 3 weeks into a season still wondering what going on with a manager sidetracked on deals and assessments of players unlikely to ever reach fruition. All that said, 2-3 more good ins and the off season should provide us with a better overall unit in a big transition year, but if they don’t click soon it won’t stand for much. The best strategies are often clearly laid out well in advance, you’d be kidding if that is how you describe West Ham at the moment or any of the past 5 seasons.

Problem is Dave ,if we win on Sunday,,say 0 1 and he plays the usual suspects, ie Ant, Souchec ,Cress ,fornals chances are he will without doubt start them again against the scum on Wednesday .

Been a massive fan of Gallagher since i first saw him for palace. Silky skills and a grafter..Hoping Scamma starts tonight along with Cornet...hoping they've tuned him up on the offside rules, though...! ! !
Not mad on Cresswell at the moment so who know wtf he'll do at the back.
I'm still holding faith in the Moysiah, hopefully we get the 1-4 win tonight and our season begins here...COYI - Let's 'ave it

A scrappy 1/0 win over the Villa but is the tide turning ? We are historically the ones where we lose to the deflected goal , unjust penalty etc.
The spuds on a high ready for a fall - we know games against them don’t necessarily follow current form. Lets get some positive vibes going. COYIrons !!!!’
