I think we dodged a bullet there. At fault for Arsenal’s first goal also fluffed two decent chances.

If the opposition are much better than you then you have to acknowledge it, but if you gift them the ball they don’t even have to work hard. Possession, go forward, create chances. How hard is that?

True. Downes? All he's doing is passing ball to rice while standing three feet from him. Come on lads have more belief before 65 rips into you

Another away day where we have come away empty handed when we deserved something. That's why we are not a top 6 team. Nothing less than y points from Leicester & Palace games.

Attack but more recently defense but get your point Burkie, he’s well off the level we saw in the first 2 seasons .. lack of tackles, interceptions and more importantly goals!

Maybe the same can be stain for Fornals, little impact in the game

And Rice have swapped roles. And its not working. Soucek is no longer a goal scoring threat and Rice never has been

Is Downes is getting more grief for 1 so called poor game but souscek is a shadow of the great player he was but apparently is a necessity...

Says who? Downes looked out of depth yesterday sadly. He will improve though. I found his positioning bizarre tbh. Standing right next to rice. Soucek was better than downes yesterday. People moan about soucek simply coz he's become the defensive shield rather than an am. I guess if you're not getting forward n having shots you get branded as useless. Perhaps he's been told to play that role so rice can get forward? Btw the officials robbed us twice on ball over the line calls. Anyone remember the goal greenwood was it scored...when man u ball was clearly miles out of play?

Downes was ineffective yesterday as was Soucek but this is all down to Moyes and his tactics and consistent playing of players out of position or not doing the jobs they excel at. I actually thought Downes was bought as a long term replacement for Rice which would work quite well, allowing Soucek to play his normal marauding game so why all three are playing together baffles me.
What with Cresswell, Johnson, Kehrer or Coufal consistantly passing backwards or sideways, Scamacca is coming too far back in search of the ball instead of being in the box for the crosses which rarely come.I can see Scamacca getting tarred with the same brush as Haller at this rate as he now looks a lonely lost figure on the field.
Bowen is off the boil leaving Benrahma as our only player looking like getting anything moving but as the other teams have sussed this he is invariably confronted by three sometimes four defenders.
Soucek, Rice and Downes should never have started together. One of them should have made way for either Lanzini or Antonio and started the game on the front foot.
And by the way. Am I the only one slowly going off Kehrer?

It's down to moyes playing downes & souscek in the same role. Souscek was a great player when he was going forward & getting in the box,he hasn't done that for a long, long time doesn't mean he's useless but also doesn't mean he should start if he's been poor for so long!! I agree downes is a defending midfielder rather than an attacking one,yes we were unlucky yesterday but like deluded says the passing sideways & backwards is tedious! Hopefully when 2 pints & Cornet come back they will get the best out of Scamacca! As for their goal there was only one person getting that header & it certainly wasnt Kehrer

We still have no real penetration, im getting sick of watching Bowen on the ball trying to be another Grealish, running at defender's and 9 out of 10 times loosing the ball ,Benny doesnt seem to be the player we hoped for ,and deluded ,where are you getting soucec and marauding from?,when was the last time you actually saw him running with the ball and taking on people?,he still gets into the box for corners but doesnt seem a threat anymore .
Dont get me wronge, i thought they played well yesterday and it was a good match, its just that i think Moyes playes a damage limitations exercise at the big boys stadium s ,we made them look good yesterday and should have come away with some thing .

Scored 10 Premier League goals in his first full season for us when Rice was used as the main defending midfielder which is one less than Rice has got in over 190 games. So far this season and the whole of last season where he has been sacrificed to allow Rice to go forward more he still has 4 goals more than Declan which suggests to me that something isn't working. As you rightly point out, you don't see Soucek running with the ball and taking people on as his goals were almost Martin Peters style in ghosting in from nowhere. I see a lot of Rice running forward and taking people on, not that it seems to be doing the team much good, eh?
