A-Z Of Appalling Scenes

There are bad losers and then there are bad 'tooled up' losers wearing masks intent on inflicting fear and mayhem on women and children! UEFA SHOULD hold AZ to task for not controlling their 'Ultra's', instead they will most likely receive a financial slap on the wrists with no further action being taken.

Firstly, if the same situation had occurred in England instead of Holland the entire media would have got involved, questions would be asked in the house and the perpetrators would have been roundly exposed in a blaze of negative publicity with 70's hooligan imagery photoshopped onto the front pages of the tabloids.

Players and staff were confronted with unimaginable scenes of stress as they saw their families and friends subjected to a torrent of physical and verbal abuse, the stewards who were doing bugger all to contain the Ultra's who they clearly feared, actually tried to stop the Irons players and staff trying to get to their loved ones to defend them!

Order at the end of the game was finally restored courtesy of 'proper' Police baton charge which left a few battered home supporters nursing head injuries. Football may have moved away from hooliganism, but hooliganism hasn't gone away from football, especially NOT in Northern Europe and particularly NOT in Holland where regular hooliganistic activities are organised between club's Ultra fans, a bit like the old ICF and other 'firms' of the seventies organizing 'rucks'.

The scenes at the end of what was a historic victory over two legs to reach the much maligned Con Cup were disgraceful and detracted from what was a great achievement. Before besmirching the Con Cup, ask Jose Mourinho what he thinks about it? His side Roma needed to win the Con Cup in order to be in the Europa League this year!

A Cup is a Cup is a Cup, irrespective of how Micky Mouse it is and it has been a dreadfully long time since Hammers won ANYTHING AT ALL! - Ed

Personally think that giving these moronic fans a 'positive' name such as Ultra is part of the problem. It's like a badge of honour. Should be a more negative name pushed by authorities and press to take the "pride' away. I could come up with a few, but not really publishable. Maybe "Should have been aborted at Birth' fans

Not sure if it was seen on the UK TV coverage, some muppet wearing a Millwall shirt.

attacking the family of the players is truly shocking but... are we surprised? Europe hasnt moved on!

But one middle aged Westham fan protecting the family stand from these pathetic little boys in hoodies,not only should they be embarrassed about their actions but should be embarrassed that 50 of them couldn't take down one real man!!I applaud you sir for being that brave

What on earth is it about football that drives people to such thuggery,Emotion can get the better of anybody but and please forgive my plagiarism here.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
