Why Bother?-Bowen

Having finally been re-selected for England, Jarrod Bowen was the sent on a 'mission to nowhere' by his attention-seeking team mates. In what was clearly an exercise of giving Southgate's 'B' team a run out and attempted retrospective blame removal, Bowen was virtually ignored for the entire 'Snore Draw' friendly against Australia at Wembley last night.

James Ward-Prowse was omitted from the England squad entirely, and boy did they miss him. James Maddison's dead ball deliveries were so poor even the ball itself got deflated at one point! Someone must have put something in Maddison's tea or hypnotised him into wanting to take short corners ONLY, he was throwing 'hissys' at those who failed to comply.

If Maddison was bloody minded, then Southgate was bloody ignorant! It was totally pointless to play Bowen if all the England manager wanted to do was to show how ill-suited the Hammers player would be to his 'team' then he succeeded brilliantly.

Bowen was made to 'endure' the full 90 minutes of this turgid encounter, meaning he will definitely NOT feature in the 'real deal' game that follows against Italy. It seems that Southgate has been going to the 'Sam Allardyce' school of recalcitrance when it comes to selecting players outside of his favourites and not from within his comfort zone.

Bowen was ON FIRE before joining up with the England squad, it is to be hoped that Southgate hasn't managed to put a complete dampener on that heat! - Ed

So i cannot comment personally but reading fans thoughts it sounded dreadful and served no purpose i mean ffs why was Henderson picked and even playing he is surely the past as for Bowen i'm just grateful he did not get injured and unless there is a catastrophic injury crisis before Tuesday he wont even make the bench so like the teatime quiz show it's all rather pointless

Oi big boy, what's your name?

anyone else tired of Southgate's constant moaning? first, no one can boo Maguire, now Henderson...who does he think he is now? A complete club manager failure who got the big job Gordon Brown style his ego has now grown to epic proportions.

After 36 minutes. It was awful and quite clear Bowen wasn't in the game at all. Doubt Southgate learnt anything from the match, even if he had the slightest inclination to do so.

I fail to understand why people continue to watch this shit. It's been depressing fo so long you'd have to be a sadist to put yourself through it.

Just watched the England Italy match and must say I was really impressed.

So just focusing on our lads, who would you drop to accommodate Bowen or JWP? Agree they should both be in the squad but first pick???

I think Phillips and Rice is an overkill for defence but, Ol Big Nose got it spot on again. so maybe JWP replaces Phillips?

Leaves Jarod. Better than Rashford, Foden, Kane or St Jude? Not yet IMO

P.S, Nev...

"Bowen was virtually ignored for the entire 'Snore Draw' friendly against Australia at Wembley last night" I thought we won 1-0

And he won't be back in the team when Saka is back to fitness. JWP tops Henderson and Phillips, neither of whom shuld even be in the squad. Both Maguire and Phillips lacked match fitness and that is why Phillips mistimed his tackle for the yellow. This is not to say that Bowen is the answer by the way because I wouldn't really class him as International material.

Rashford isn't all that.. really? 25 YO, 247 appearances for a global giant with 77 goals, over 50 appearances for England and 17 goals... you will tell me next he wouldn't get in our team :o) Do agree about Saka.

Agree JWP is better than Henderson but he would never make the first 11. Phillips IMO looked good, I just dont get why Big Nose wants him and Rice. BTW... Rice is match fit but still at fault for the goal.

Between comparing whether Rashford would get into our team or whether he should be in the England team and to be honest his international stats look pathetic when compare to shall we say, Sterling?
Unfortuntely I know quite a few red glory hunters, but a common complaint is his selfishness when other players are in better positions ( a complaint I have against Bowen as it happens). Rashfords assists stats isn't all that impressive compared to many other Premier League players, some of whom don't play for a "global giant". And of course, Saka, which we're both agreed on leaves Rashford biting dust on both goals and assists

I think its difficult to compare Sterling and Rashford, quite different in style and expectation. Sterling you would expect to be "provider" particularly for the likes of Kane where as I see Rashford as a finisher. Those stats are much more in his favour for England, 57 appearances with 17 goals compared to 82 appearance and just 20 goals. assists I have no idea.

Regarding the "selfishness" I think a Striker should be greedy if they are confident enough to score. Actually I dont think Bowen has that trait, I think its more like Antonio and heaven forbid Benny who shoots far to often with very little success!

I guess you didnt like the comment "global giant", its just a fact, 3rd biggest club according to A1and 2nd according to Forbes. The point I am making is its more difficult to have many appearances for a big club with a big squad and a big expectation. BTW... we are 15th and improving, watch this space.. We are MASSIVE!!!

Sterling IS more of a provider. Unfortunately his goals per game ratio knocks Rashford out of the ground as well
