Well there you have it, Hammers appear to have kept the sprat in the form of Julen Lopetegui, instead of the mackerel Ruben Amorim, that they intended to catch! In a way it should come as no surprise that Amorim chose to stay at Sporting as opposed to joining the madhouse that is West Ham United.

David Sullivan was never going to shell out €20 or even €10 Million in compensation to bring Amorim to East London, whereas Lopetegui was available without any fee. Other names like Thomas Tuchel were merely mentioned to show 'due dilligence', but were never realistically going to join the rented home of the club.

Lopetegui's impending appointment will be extremely underwhelming to many fans, but is it that bad? Of course only time will tell, but he couldn't do worse than winning only four games out of twenty four and as such should be seen as a breath of fresh air until proven otherwise.

Lopetegui has been out of work since he left Wolves, so will be keen to start what will be a MASSIVE re-building of the shambles he will inherit from David Moyes. With as many as TEN players needed he will have to work closely with Tim Steidten AND bring members of the youth teams through, something he is NOT known for.

Whether you wanted him or not Lopetegui's appointment is all but confirmed and hopefully the club will have the cajones to announce the new manager BEFORE the Luton game in order for David Moyes to get the send off he so richly deserves.

It is a pity Moyes didn't leave at the end of last season as a hero and legend, whereas now his reputation will be tarnished by what has been a dreadful domestic season punctuated with his determination to do things his way, irrespective of the consequences.

In the end the fans had just had enough of his dour pragmatic approach that he refused to alter and he is now paying the price. From Dino to Loopy Lu?, what a choice! -Ed

Has a massive rebuilding job to do. Hopefully all will be done and dusted early in the summer transfer window before pre season and not, as is usual, all on the last day. Unfortunately, for all the changes being made, the Fat Goblin is still the owner

Come on Deluded its Sullivan here that will not happen and until there is a press conference showing us that Moyes has gone and then unveiling the new manager i will take all of it with a pinch of salt....but whoever it is we are all agreed that a massive rebuild is on the cards and so next season is going to be really tough...already heard on the radio today lets see how west ham fans feel come Christmas with Moyes gone......

Unfortunately for Moyes he fell on his own sword. The European success went to his head. Tactically he seems inept & very blinkered. Was he the only person who could not see his game plan was doomed by the quality of defender West Ham have. He became deluded. Why not try youth? An injection of fresh blood. Especially with no strength in depth. Unfortunately league position wise. We are going to end up not much better than how he found us. Too make things worse. The squad is ageing. There is no depth. They are beaten. The youth are untried. Can they step up?
Don't know much about the new guy. But if Stieden is allowed to do is stuff we might have half a chance.

I must agree also VAR.......The rebuild is inevitable, then its getting it to work,i can see another bumpy ride of a season ahead, money is needed to be spent, and that has never been readily available, just look at the striker situation, just hasnt worked.

All depends on the contract. If as it seems, he is coming. What's his remit? Manager, or First Team Coach! As Coach and coach alone, he will not have dealings with the Dildo or Lady Buttplug. He will report directly to Ze German.

By all accounts he will not stand for any false promises, he didn't at Wolves. But having been out of management for so long, who knows what he'll put up with?

It's an underwhelming appointment, I'm not making any assumptions just yet!

before the season ends that's a first .got to be better, only having won 4 out of 24 is a very poor reflection on the team and especially the man in charge so thanks David for all you have done for us but time to step aside and let us move on .welcome Mr Lopetegui we know you have a tough job to do but at least you have a full 3 months to get to grips with the players and decide who to keep and who to sell and let go, more time than other's have been given good luck and c.o.y.i.

That's the spirit, there is no point in 'doing a Moyes' and refusing the change! It is happening so that is that. I do think, as you said, that it is important for 'Loopy' to have the chance to spend some 'quality time' with the players before the next season starts. Although there will be a need for new players, some already at the club just need nuturing, especially the youth players.

And like others have mentioned at least its early doors so he can get used to the chaos errr set up at our club i mean... a chance to see the players and assess the squad and YOUTH players before handing in what will clearly be a long list of players required.

So whether he was someone you wanted or someone you are not sure about we have to get behind him and give him and the players the support and in return they can give us a better style of football than has been served up these past few years..COYI
