So 'Lord' Southgate has included Jarrod Bowen in his initial squad for the upcoming Euros, well he had to didn't he, although plenty of established players found out to their cost that they weren't guaranteed a place.
The squad will be trimmed down to 23 ahead of the tournament and there is some doubt as to whether Bowen will make the cut or not. Well the point is do Hammers fans want to see Bowen wearing the three lions in competition, probably as a little used substitute and more than likely played out of position? Or would they rather he takes a break from what was a gruelling season?
With no European competition for West Ham next season Bowen will NOT be called upon to play Thursday/Sunday football as he has had to for the last three seasons so he won't suffer from as much burn out as before.
Bowen obviously loves playing for England, but might he be better off taking a break with his young family and recouperating ahead of next season instead? Of course it is always good to see 'one of our own' donning the National colours and adds a bit of interest to yet more football, whereas there are those who say that there is TOO MUCH football on offer and that it is good to have a break!
Hammers are about to embark on a truly MASSIVE rebuild, so perhaps it would be better for Bowen to be there from the off rather than returning knackered from yet another unsuccessful tournament for England. - Ed

I care Nev
Bowen has been a breath of fresh air since he came to the club and all the hard work and effort he has put in he deserves to be on the plain a helluva lot more than some others
Yes, I think so Nev. I like
Yes, I think so Nev. I like to watch a tournament. I will watch England as it is worthwhile to a point. No interest in the friendlies, pointless I feel.
As for Bowen. I feel he's competing against Eze, Maddison, Palmer and Gordon.
I hope he goes for his sake, but it's not the end of the world if he stays behind!!
Disagree
The only player who will keep Bowen out is Saka and we all know that Saka is Southgates lovechild. Yeah, would rather Bowen had a a nice holiday in Dubai or wherever todays footballers go. Bad enough playing in a turgid Moyes team never mind an equally turgid and boring Southgate England team
I dont want him picked,he
I dont want him picked,he needs rest, dont want him knackered and crocked before the season starts,as he is one of only a few we want to keep.
A fine reward for a fine player
I cannot think of a player more deserving of a call up and a start in the championships but with this England manager i would be greatly surprised if that turns out to be the case.
yes agree
good luck to him he deserves it just pray he doesn't get crocked like so many of our other England call ups have in the past
