He has played for manure in there preseason friendlies so i expected him to be a starter as for the others i am guessing that JLO just does not want to throw everyone in all at once as it is about communication

Im on the train home, left midway through second half,we was never going to score in open play,i was not impressed,it was the same as last season, players on the bench that should of been playing,no clear cut shot on goal,it was like Moyes was still there.

lost our opening game again so no change there . the only thing i got from the game was Souček,is not what he used to be and Summerville is better on the pitch than 0ff it,

jokes aside, he would have got us an ugly draw.

I didnt get all the optimism seen on YouTube by the WH bloggers. Nothing in the preseason to suggest we have improved.

I said to a Villa mate before the game, I would take a draw if it were on the table right now. I think Villa will be strong this year, playing in Champions League will put a strain on the squad. I remember we got beat by Leicester start of the season and they went on to win the league and we had a good season. Villa will look back on this regretting the misses. They were better in all departments apart from decision making in front of goal.

We were sold on a new look WH. High tempo, high possession and attacking. Looked all too familiar with the same faces already looking slow, lethargic and tired. The first goal was a cock up by the Czech buddies giving the corner away and a howler from the keeper not coming for the cross. But we were painfully slow out the blocks.

I think the J Lo honeymoon is already over. The substitutions were IMO poor. I would NEVER take off Paqueta or Bowen, they are both game changers. Appreciate they were not having the best of games but.. Putting Kudus out right was no better than Bowen. Bringing on Ward Mouse is a waste of time in open play. No idea why Ings was given a run.

Duran was always going to score, written in the stars. Villa fans call him Duranteke.

I guess before we all get carried away there are still more new recruits to come in that cant be worse than the regulars.

Away at Palace next week.. should be fun, lots of love Grumpy of NSW

Coufal, Soucek, stavros, Antonio, should be out of the team by the next game. AWB, Torpedo, Fulkrug and Jimmy Summerville will start. New signings need a week to integrate themselves. Should be ready to go fo Palace. Last thing we need is being like Forest under Cooper. Slowly slowly catchy monkey.

Oi big boy, what's your name?

Anyone would think we had lost yesterday, oh wait we did. Let’s try and find some positives from yesterday’s match. First, Mav seemed more confident alongside Kilman and Kilman acquitted himself well. Kudos as usual did the work of three men. Somerville must start from now on. There is still some miles in Antonio’s legs. He is probably beyond putting in 100+ minutes but will be a big threat off the bench once Fulkrig establishes himself. Todibno looked decent and hardworking in his cameo.
The substitutions were far more positive than in years gone by, putting two up front towards the end showed intent and if Ings had connected properly with that header at the end we would all be singing a different tune.
To summarise I’m glass half full, for now.
Keep the faith COYI.

Villa are a decent team. That said, I was surprised by the starting XI, very much the same old, same old except Kilman for Zouma and Roddy for Alvarez although I don't think that will be the starting XI for much longer. Positives? Yeah, well we'd never see those sort of substitutions under Moyes so that bit looked promising.
Just need to drop Areola. I said elsewhere that he is a calamity waiting to happen. Shocking decision making for their first and what the heck was he doing on the edge of the box for their effort that hit the post?

I watched a re-run of the game in a bar in Zante. Kudus single handedly does the work of 3 men. The playing style is completely different. No more long balls for Antonio to run on to. Pass all through the middle of the park. Guido will be a massive asset. Once Jimmy and the Torpedo come in and the team gels. We will be great to watch. Kudos and that rabona cross yesterday was something else. I predict good times going forward from here..

Bissaka not playing was a big mistake by Jlo.....he had played in manures preseason friendlies and unless he was carrying a knock in training!! his omission was rather a strange decision.
The game had the right result whether we liked it or not but lets face it the score line could of been so much worse but for a couple of good stops by Nipps and poor finishing on there part.
Coufal was so bad Kilman and Mav did ok Emerson was slightly better than Coufal but not by much....Soucek what can you say really Rodriguez must of been thinking bloody hell what is this i've signed up for....Pacman was on the fringe of play the odd nice touch but nothing special apart from the very lucky penalty we got....Kudus was kudus with his runs Bowen may as well of not been there Antonio is now a Bambi not a beast.
So with a full weeks training behind them this weekend i fully expect we are going to see Bissaka Todibo Summerville Fullkrug all starting as like it or not Jlo if we put in another poor performance the pressure will be on big time with Citeh to come and then like buses 3 London Derbies in a row with the Cherries in the cup inbetween....Lifes fun being a hammer that's for sure
