What I think of Areola. An accident waiting to happen and yet again against Chelsea there he was, legs wide apart like a prossie on her back. What is also really annoying is he is beaten before the shot goes past him. No attempt a making a futile effort. Did anyone watch Raya or Henderson yesterday? Flinging themselves all over the place. Areola Stands there, jaw dropped and glaring at everyone.
Not sure about Ramsdale (especially at £30mill). Another one who is a David James wannabe. Lets see how he gets on at S'ton
the whole team let themselves down that is from the Manager to the coaching staff and the players and although the first goal was a howler by everyone to stick it solely on the keeper who was one of many in defence who failed there is IMO wrong.
Thats when you want a keeper to step up. And you ain't gonna get that from Areola. The howler set the whole game up for Chelsea. Shame Chelsea's keeper stepped up, might have had a different outlook. Stats don't lie. Their keeper made 7 saves to our two
As I stated in my Saturday comment. It looks like El Twatos has not been installing any set piece or general defending drills at Goose Green. Or as I would suspect he has, then it's getting lost in translation.
Areola is a good instinctive shot stopper. But not the all round GK package. I'd put Fotheringham in goal next week. Shag all to lose. Maybe he'll get a run out on Wednesday against the bin dippers??

Howler for the first goal 100%
but he did make a few saves that stopped the scoreline going up
You mean
He did what you expect goalkeeper to do?
Yes
But what about the defenders? what about the midfielders creating something what about a frontman having a shot.
First goal was piss poor. you
First goal was piss poor. you expect more from the keeper and defenders and team, than what they served up.
