A ‘Yes!’ From The Coast But Not One To Boast

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sun, 02/02/2025 - 10:05

It has been revealed this morning that West Ham United have managed to sign Evan Ferguson.

We’ve been competing for the Brighton player’s signature all window and have finally managed to strike a deal; however, it will come at a cost.

The club have agreed on a deal which is a straight loan and there will be NO OPTION to buy.

Having a no-option clause in a deal like this really isn’t ideal for the Hammers.

If you’d like to look at the positives, you could say that Potter and Kyle have done this because they need more time to identify targets yet still need someone this season so a straight six-month loan would be good enough.

A straight six-month loan on an injury-prone player is better than striking a deal of a six-month loan with a £40,000,000 obligation.

Along with that, it was probably the only way they could get dismal Dave to agree to any signing, so we’d have to settle with a loan.

However, the Hammers now run the risk of another Lingard situation or another Kalvin Phillips.

There’s a chance we get him in and he does brilliantly for us, instead of the £40,000,000 fee Brighton was demanding, they’ll suddenly be asking for 60m+ because he found a bit of form.

Or, we've dodged a bullet in the case that he gets injured straight away, and he's ruled out for a long time.

Evan Ferguson’s loan deal is set to be agreed and his medical is expected to be completed within the next 24/48hrs.

The loan fee is anticipated to be between £1,000,000 to £5,000,000.

West Ham will cover his wages entirely and bonuses are expected to be included too.

It's a win win in my view. The guy has a poor history. If he does a Lingard, all well and good and if the price then goes up we then look around at other strikers and see if the price asked for is realistic in comparison to others on the market. We're not committed and if he's another Kieran Dyer we send him straight back

What really made me chuckle here is all the You tubers and their ITK pontificating and drivel spouting they constantly churn out. It was SSN that broke the news. Now they've had to come out the woodwork and start the drivel chain.

Proof if it was ever needed that they are a bunch of useless wa.k.rs who need to get a real job.

On the loan itself. Nothing ventured nothing gained. If he has a storming season he will surely only want to continue under Potter. His agent then would not be pushing Brighton to high? Who knows!!

One things for sure. Potter wont be doing a Moyes and giving him 20 mins. Potter will use him straight away depending on his fitness level. With Potters exemplary fitness regime, of pushing players but managing their levels. He wont take long to get there..

After Chelsea tomorrow we have nearly a 2 week gap until our next fixture due to the FA Cup. Plenty of time to get up to speed..

Thought we were massive?.....So he comes he performs well bangs in the goals up goes his price and we wont have enough in the kitty for him and then the Spuds come calling great or what.

An option to buy would of been nice but i guess we need to move to a big World Class stadium for that.

We ARE Massive bike, it's just our midget owner's not and as such we act like a club with a small mentality. One day he'll be gone, one day

good choice and we have a striker who we know can score goals in the prem and we have him on a try first and buy later deal ,got to be good for us .

Its a win for Brighton if the Lad plays to his potential and i am pretty certain he will and short term good for us but long term pain as his price will sky rocket and we will miss out again....of course if he does not hit the ground running and gets injured that's when we can get him cheaply!

But the potential is there and if he does say hit the ground running like a certain loanee whose name we will not mention again did then it is a big win for Brighton at they no he could go for£70mill+ in the summer if he does and well we are not doing that are we....Delap Gooners Chelski Spuds sniffing around so that could be two we are not able to compete for....... so you just have to hope that Potter in his travels whilst off work may have a few names in his back pocket nobody will see coming....Because the problems still going to be there in the summer.

Tongue in cheek mentioning Haller, remembering how most on the org wanted him gone and still say how sh*t he was.

I don’t understand the fear that if he does well the price skyrocket. That’s stating the bleeding obvious. If he does well for us Brighton will be able to demand fair value, we can either chose to pay fair value or moan and complain when the Spuds or the Arse do so. If he does well and settles in at the club he will have every incentive to want to stay.
