Bollocks At The Bridge

It was a Monday night ruined by the officials; it appears to be a running theme under Potter.

1 bad loss, 1 win, 1 draw and 2 games that the officials have done us over, first the ridiculous corner at Villa Park, which sparked the momentum for them to go on and win the game, followed by the ludicrousy at the Bridge with the foul on Jarrod Bowen not being taken into account for the first goal, along with the offside decision for the first which supposedly didn't take a touch of Marc Guiu, therefore allowing Cucurella's pass into the box to stand which resulted in there first.

The second was unfortunate and came through Wan-Bissaka's deflection, as soon as the first one went in, it felt that we were destined to lose the match.

It's extremely tough to keep a high head after the last two matches have had performances that should've landed us 6 points, and we've walked away with a lonely 1.

Fortunately, we aren't exactly fighting for anything this season, but it feels utterly miserable to have great performances and end up empty-handed.

Potter decided to keep the four wingbacks in the starting team, and it's no surprise that Mavropanos wasn't reintroduced despite being back from suspension.

The loss of Edson Alvarez and Lucas Paqueta tonight affected us in the midfield department too. Replaced by Andy Irving, the Scotsman filled his shoes quite well, having a few shots here and there, along with the crowd chanting him on all game. Soler also had his moment turning into Gareth Bale in the Copa Del Ray while running past Recce James off the pitch.

Jarrod came back and continued on doing Jarrod things, capitalising on a Chelsea mistake and had us leading into the break.

It's all doom and gloom for the remainder of tonight, though, with a suspicion of a PGMOL response in the coming days announcing how they made an incorrect decision, as PER! That'll make everything better, won't it?

A great performance from Potters lads tonight if we look past the tragic decisions, we set out with the right team and the right tactics, and we fought for the badge tonight all in all.

There's not much to say apart from 'Onwards and Upwards' after that match, a disheartening one for the fans at home and at the Bridge itself.

Point was the least we deserved. However, might have been better had Ings started as opposed to chasing shadows in the last ten minutes.

Plenty to shout about

The fact Potter is giving players a chance to prove themselves...The players themselves happier and listening to what the manager wants.. The fact we were missing a key number of players but it really did not affect the performance on the pitch which again shows that the players are believing in the manager and what he wants..
Irving did well for a first start though it was late on and we were unjustly losing the very fact that Orford Scarles and then Guilherme came on shows them that the manager is willing to give you a chance to show your talents in a live game and not just in training and this will bear fruit for Potter the players and the club in the long term.
Pissed off at the result yes but unlike so many matches under the other managers where the players were just not interested and going through the motions well you can see it is already different now and that is just in a matter of a few weeks how the atmosphere has changed and though this season is a busted flush you can already see under Potter we are a very different animal now.
