Totally agree, it was really intimidating.
12 of us went to all the games and stood half way between the centre and the South bank, close to where the famous leaders of the ICF stood, but I hasten to add I was never one of them on account that I couldnt punch my way out of a wet paper bag :o).
Before the game we would decide to pick on one of the opposition and give him pelters. Most times it didn't really work on good pro's but recall it seriously upset Gates of Ipswich (Ugly Gates) and Alfie Conn of Spudz, both had nightmares and were daft enough to react!!
