Song is supposedly out for 4 months ,which no doubt will frustrate the clubs preparations, whether they will settle for what they have got already in that position I suppose will depend on how far finances will stretch. But Song is a big loss ,hopes of signing him in January is all the club can hope for.Jenkinson should sign a loan extension once he returns from his holiday.Downing will be a big loss,he was a certain starter in a 4-2-3-1 ,so now there definitely needs a replacement. The likes of Gokhan Tore of Besiktas and Xherdan Shaqiri of Inter Milan possible targets that would certainly improve the quality.Despite all the excellent business done in the transfer market ,there is still much strengthening needed in certain areas, particularly full backs, wingers where the squad is very light .I was really disappointed Cabeye went to Palace for £10m ,he would have been ideal to improve the midfield creative flow, rather than just having all box to box players like Kouyate and Obiang..Cannot see all those central defenders and forwards making the full squad, a lot of inexperience and unproven players there.Something that Westham have struggled with in the last few seasons is decent goalscorers, usually an injury has had a big impact.Which is why another quality proven goal scorer is still a must. What has happened to Maiga have heard nothing about him,is he still with the squad?

Maiga has been training with the squad according to Julian Dicks, I still think we need another quality centre midfielder and competition up front, IMO there's no point in relying on a fit Andy Carroll so that only leaves Sakho and Valencia, hopefully there's more to come

It is mate, but it was against postmen and bricklayers, lol. I hope he gets a chance this season and grasps it with both hands.
Hope you're well mate

very well buddy thanks, they may have been a pub team but were a bit rough, he took his goal well but you can only play what you are up against, I hope he gets a decent run out though and not just a few mins as a cameo.

Lee will certainly get his chances along with the rest of the academy players through the season with so many games to play.If Bilic is impressed he will give them a subs appearance in a league game,I think a few will come through this season,I've been impressed. But at premiership level its not just a case of these ones getting through a game without making any mistakes, they have really got to make an impression when the opportunity comes to make the manager want to pick him for the next game because there is so much quality competition for places. But Ferdinand,J.Cole,Lampard,Noble ,Tomkins, prove it can be done.

Not a bad looking squad Essexhammer, now lets see if Slaven can work his magic. You are right though a couple of more signings needed.

Was thinking as I was opening the site after reading Ogbonna had signed that although a positive statement of intent has clearly been laid down with the signings we've made much work still needs to be done by the owners. No point stopping now and quick identification of other targets will help to show these plays that we mean what we say and WH is the place to be. We're on our way and our future is bright indeed.
The other side of getting quality in is getting deadwood out to free up wages and squad places. So the owners need to tout these players out using parasite agents or picking up the ph and convincing Daniel Levy That Nolan is the missing link in the spud squad haha! Honestly though players like Kev, Joey and Matt are not the quality we need to ensure we give the Boleyn the send off she deserves. So G&S need to keep putting in the hours and continue to streghthen what is shaping up to be a good team.

That's true. And the other side of that is that we will have a lot of new players along with a new manager's systems and way of doing things; there will be a period of adjustment for all concerned, we have to take that into account if we have a few poor performances at the start of Slav's reign.

I think the 25 million was just a number picked out of the air by the papers. Let's face it, G&S are hardly likely to tell some journo exactly what their spending plans are... Don't mean it might not turn out to be close to the truth of course! :-) But if we intend to get a top striker (Remy or Austin price level) it will have to be over 25 million, as we don't have the assets to sell without getting rid of our top players, which would be silly, and something they have said they will not do.

Bilic seems to be playing a lot of the youth and fringe players at the moment (three games) He has also said we need the central midfielders to score goals and provide assists. Lusitanos and Peterborough are relatively mediocre opposition but I think he has seen enough to warrant changes when facing better opposition and it does look like he is keeping back most of the first team players for stiffer opposition as and when it arises (3rd round maybe and when we are three games away from the start of the season.
I was surprised to see Miaga back and Nolan still here but credit where credit is due Slaven Bilic is looking at everyone and so he should!

I agree. It must be great for players like Maiga to know the new manager has an open mind, that everyone starts with a clean sheet; just maybe he can get more out of them than Sam.
