Nuno Breaks The ‘Tumbling Wall’

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sun, 02/11/2025 - 17:17

The Hammers finally secure their second victory of the season through the definition of ‘Nuno-ball’.

Bowen belter of a strike clashed the post early doors and just a mere 26 seconds after, Newcastle would strike their only goal of the game, which primarily can be blamed upon Max Kilman by his wondrous adventures at the right-wing and hopes continued to worsen after Robert Jones dismissed our initially given penalty…one of his many fascinating calls this afternoon.

A sublime finish by Paqman, followed by, in Hammers’ eyes, a brilliant defensive clearance by Botman, put us up at the break.

The Hammers honed in a victory from the second half, a very defensive performance in comparison to the first saw Nuno’s side relentlessly press through counters, which gave Freddie Potts tap-in goal but it was soon killed off by offside. The other instance came through Tomas Soucek bundling into Pope and scoring with his knee, finalising the win in the 97th minute.

Whilst the Football might not been ‘positive’ in the second half, you’d much rather walk away with three points than the risk of having none.

A pattern of play was established within both halves which everyone had been crying out for and a sense of knowing what we were trying in the first half to score was visible, a shocking revelation!

Nuno’s been banging on about finding the correct lineup and hopefully this game is the telltale for him to have that finalised for the remainder of the season. Potts provided everything today that the midfield had been needing and the performance today most definitely should warrant him a starting slot amongst the squad.

As of late, it’s typically been doom and gloom, negatives to still be looked and a not-so-positive style of Football, but at last! The Hammers’ unwanted record of not winning at the London Stadium for the last 248 days has finally been broken. - LN

A deserved win. Still not quite the perfect line up to start with, the defence still makes me nervous. But definitely the base to build on. Onwards and upwards, hopefully not a one off blip

We need to sort the def in jan. And we need a striker who nuno likes ie can hold the ball up

I guess the board will look at the free transfer list.

No not the midfield which many of us had been banging on about all season and finally we had the legs and look at the difference,
No i am on about what was a penalty 100% nailed on..the ref had a clear view and he gave it yet VAR as ever got involved but why? unless it is a clear and obvious error the on field decision is supposed to stand and as it took them a mind numbing four+minutes to decide that it was not proves the point and whilst all the pundits etc were banging on about it being the correct decision not one of them mentioned that the Ball never changed direction in the slightest and even the waferist thin touch would of made it so and it did not so the ref should have the belief in his own eyes and tell Var no i am happy with my decision but as we all no they never do so lets just remove the ref from the pitch and ref remotely

But you can clearly see from one angle the ball moves after he prods it. My question though is surely bringing bowen down after stopped him from getting to the ball and shooting ?

Should be a rule that there has to be SIGNIFICANT movement to the ball ,you'd want a complete scientific unit to see any movement on that ball ,could have done serious damage to Bows .

HG I was screaming for a corner. Yes the defender clearly toe ended the ball, straight out. So why the drop ball back to the keeper? If it was not a penalty then it should have been a corner.

Hopefully if we play on the front foot, technically we are better than Burnley and should piss all over them. But it's West Ham so who knows?

Thought that Nuno selection was spot on, but did question it after Bowen hit the post and The barcodes went straight up our end and Murphy scored we were all shouting "Come on u Irons" and we all stopped and it all went dead. Killman had a shit 10 minutes but our heads never went down and after that even Killman and Tobido played well we were the 12th man today and we all got behind the team and once Pacman scored that goal the whole stadium erupted, and I don't know if they showed it on Sky but it came up on the big screen with a picture om Manu Paqueta with a flag with SOLD our soul behind him which is also on Canning Town Lens site. The ref didn't give us a thing yesterday Wilson was fouled again and again right in front of him his shirt was half way up his back. And as for Potts goal being offside it didn't look like it from where I was in the Bobby Moore it certainly was not clear and obvious . Not out of the woods yet but thought Nuno outwitted Howe and the defence of our corners was much better. Much more confident in Nuno, and the more he manages the better the team will get. Bit disappointed with the Demo but at least we got good coverage from the Media which was what we were after.

Forget the foreign imports get a battle hardened front man from the championship i say one with a bit of pace and skill someone like that man Divin Mubama who scored a hat trick at the weekend i think we should take a look at him i mean err hang on a minute somethings shouting at me in the back of my mind!

I'm taking full credit for this brilliant performance & victory. I took my Aussie girlfriend to her first West Ham game. Obviously a good luck charm.

Seems like a good un. When my Aussie gf came to live with me in Amsterdam, we got relegated a the end of the season. I then ended up taking the same AFL team as her when I moved down under as she said they were mustard. They've won fuck all since I've been here!!!

Proved to be right in the end. My issue with VAR is that, (in my opinion), neither were clear and obvious errors , proven by the eventual images showing a fart on the ball and a toenails margin of offside. Absolutely no way are these clear and obviously incorrect decisions further compounded that it took countless replays over about five minutes to come to a decision. It seems to me that VAR is getting involved now in every goal. scoring incident. It's got to stop, it's ruining the game.

Like i said and you have CLEAR AND OBVIOUS which neither were and fans of all clubs so pissed off with offsides given because of a gnats pube. If it is taking four five mins then it is not clear and obvious is it talk about killing a game and atmospheres.
The ref was happy with the decision and yet VAR got involved because well i hate to say it but Boys and there toys so lets have a game run totally by VAR no ref in the middle just a button to sound a horn to stop play etc lets see then eh.

Burkie the manic depressive here .
I sure hope we get a result against Burnley, I seem to remember the same reaction after the Forrest game .
Just saying .

Might be right Burkie, but it's the hope that kills you at the end of the day, can't help but get excited once the blue moon comes around.
