Rumour Mill - Freebie Edition

With the transfer window closed, no more incomings are anticipated, and, fortunately, the hundreds of lucid rumours have been put to bed, so we’ve been cracking on with the Football.

Towards the closing stages of the transfer window, Nuno managed to eke out two more signings on deadline day, leaving the Hammers with an almost entirely covered squad, dependent on possible outgoings in the final days of the other leagues around the world.

The two positions in question are a striker and a midfielder.

At the moment, the Hammers have got far too many midfielders to count, seeing as Alvarez and Magassa remained at the club, with Soucek also returning to team training late last week. Should Alvarez and Magassa both make their way out of the door, the Hammers could look to sign another backup midfielder and looking towards the free agent market, the Hammers’ possible candidates could be Will Smallbone and Abdoulaye Doucouré.

Should the left-back option not have been fulfilled, you could picture the transfer executives hovering over the call button of Tyrell Malacia’s agents, and had Morato not been secured, Veltman might’ve had to endure a phone call to his ex-teammate, Adam Webster, who is available on a free transfer.

However, the one position West Ham are lacking in is strikers. Currently, Piroe, Taty and Pablo are our senior options, but Taty and Pablo are both currently injured. The length of their injuries is unknown, but should any be serious, a free agent may need to be discussed.

Jamie Vardy initially was a target but he has since joined Burnley on a free, replacing Zian Flemming, who joined Ipswich on deadline day.

We could perhaps tick the box of decade-long target, Andrea Belotti or Anthony Martial who was offered to Everton on deadline day, but the Toffees rejected the opportunity to sign him. With that said, Vardy was the target we were after and Nuno may noq opt for Joshua Ajala instead.

But hey ho! If all else fails, Danny Ings is available on a free transfer - he might do a job! I seem to remember him playing in Claret & Blue before…
