does anyone have an idea from the matches so far what sort of formation bilic is trying to implement? is it a diamond with payet or is it one up front a 3 behind? haven't seen any matches so far so wanted to know what to expect against arsenal.
It'll be interesting to see
It'll be interesting to see how he sets up against Arsenal, I definitely think we'll start with 1 up top in every game, that seems to be the norm with most sides, wouldn't be surprised to see Payet play behind Sakho and then a bank of 4 midfielders to try and stop Arsenal playing.....sounds familiar
Maybe I'm not very good at
Maybe I'm not very good at recognising 'formations' or maybe Bilic hasn't decided on a hard and fast basic formation yet with all the different teams he has put out in the process of getting everyone fit. Perhaps he is still evaluating his players, and thinking about how we should play. What has been clear is that the players have very obviously been told to play a quicker shorter passing game, and not to hoof and hope. He has always played a back 4 and not yet played with wing-backs. Maybe I'm just thick, or maybe he hasn't, so far, decided on an exact defined attacking shape. Personally I think a lot of hot air is talked about 'formations.'
agree with that bully ,
agree with that bully , football is instinctive
I'd be very worried if he
I'd be very worried if he hasn't worked out his formation yet bully, we've played enough games up until now for him to see everyone, I also think if we go to Arsenal and rely on 'instinct' then they'll have a field day and I would expect a heavy defeat, we don't have enough quality for that imo
I'm sure he knows how he
I'm sure he knows how he intends to play, it's just that I don't think this "we play 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1" etc. business is very informative or usually very accurate, so it's not how I think about football. And so I can't say what formations he has been playing :-)))
im not talking in the literal
im not talking in the literal sense , game plans are more important , licence to express yourself
Of course he will have a way
Of course he will have a way he intends to play, but how we set up against Arsenal is unlikely to be guessable from a bunch of games played with 30 odd different players against teams and styles completely different to what we are likely to see on Sunday when the real football begins. People keep talking about how Slaven has set sides up in the past (as if that means he is bound to do the same here), but it seems more important to me, to adapt one's style according to the talents available, rather than fitting square pegs into round holes just because that is 'your favoured formation.' To think he must have hard and fast footballing ideas all ready to instantly put into action in a fully formed way seems to be expecting rather too much at this stage. I'm afraid there is bound to be a period of 'suck it and see.' Those expecting a lot at The Emirates should remember that the last point we got against Arsenal was several managers ago...
I think you're being very
I think you're being very generous bully, for me the average fan or club won't give the manager much time to bed in, today's football is about here and now in the eyes of a lot of fans, you can already read the grumbling on social media when we don't get a result so Slaven's clock is already ticking. If I was him I'd have played my best squad in the important games and sent the likes of Nolan, Jarvis to face the likes of Southend, he's an intelligent bloke he's already said he watched the last 12 games of last season, so he knows what the team needs and what it's lacking, getting what he considers to be his best squad playing together in a way that he wants then to play is vital when heading into a season, that's what pre season is for surely. I don't think he's daft enough to try and go toe to toe with Arsenal so I think it will be about containing them in areas where they won't hurt us, or trying to anyway, I don't think we'll be very ambitious going forward in that game
