I can't see what he brings to the table. He was one of the most unpopular, poorest trainers and has absolutely no interest in the world of football. I know players that have played with him at West Ham and couldn't believe he got the job. It's a totally token gesture appointment, with the board and Bilic thinking because the fans liked the way he kicked people that it's a popular move. I can't help blaming all these red cards on him either. We're either unlucky and it's a coincidence or the only thing he's offering is how to "get stuck in". I can't help thinking that Rio would have been a better appointment. He loves the game and has only just finished. What he could have brought to players like Reis, Tomkins, Ogbonna and Oxford would've been priceless in my book. he also has a personality which is something that doesn't come across from the current management team.
if he's offering tactical
if he's offering tactical ideas we're in trouble. I think because of Allardyce our owners have now got too involved. They started buying players, I think because of a distrust of Allardyce and his agent. They then appointed Teddy last year which I know Allardyce didn't ask fo, and I think they've done it again. Brady drives PR and I think she's responsible for Dicks' appointment not Bilic. So the mangers' hands are already tied!
I think the owners have been
I think the owners have been in full control of transfers long before allardyce. And before Bilic took over, im sure he would have known the full story of how we operate in the transfer market. We blame allardyce for everything but make excuses for everyone else
I'm sorry I disagree. JOB,
I'm sorry I disagree. JOB, Vaz Te, Nolan Jaaskalinen, Bouba Diop, Faye & Carroll Taylor were all Allardyce signings. Add to that he tried to get Ricardo Gardner and Carew looked like his man too. Plus the fact that Kevin Nolan, James Tomkins, Jack Collison, Matt Jarvis, Andy Carroll, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Adrian, Joey O’Brien, Guy Demel are all with Mark Curtis who also represents Allardyce and employs Allardyce's son Craig, I can see why the owners stepped in on signings. I think Allardyce's signings and interests lied outside of West Ham's and the owners knew that. So yes I blame him now for the distrust the owners have in managers buying players.
See my post on Kieran by
See my post on Kieran by water.he was got rid of because he didn't want to use the agent recommended by the academy. Doesn't take a lot of guessing who the recommended agent was.
Just seen it mate, how many
Just seen it mate, how many others have there been i wonder?
Yes I agree on those points
Yes I agree on those points you made betty. But you cant argue that the owners brought in their own calibre of players like mido, ilyan, paulista, zarate, ba, keane etc. Imo i think when bfs came in first it was on his terms but i recogn when his contract was renewed those terms were in the owners favor. I still point the finger at the owners and again its another transfer window they have made a mess off and again its the supporters who suffer.
Blimey Bet that sounds like
Blimey Bet that sounds like something Irish politicians get up to , jobs for the boys and girls and anyone else who 's related and wants a job
There's so much money
There's so much money floating around people are always looking for ways of getting their hands on it. I think that is why we've moved into this coach system. George Graham, clicked on it, Redknapp made it his own and who's to say that other high profile managers haven't? The game is drowning in it's own greed. I wonder when and how it will end?
your bang on there dicksy ,
your bang on there dicksy , Mugabe alone has more money than than our entire budget
I've said the same a few
I've said the same a few times on here Betty, I really don't know what he gives us as a coach unless it's a gathering up balls and setting up cones type of affair and he's not really too involved. Rio would've been my choice as well, played at the top level, loves the club and he sounds very knowledgable when you hear him speak about football. I couldn't get my head around Hartson being linked with a coaching job either, same reason as Julian Dicks really, don't see what he would give us, my biggest concern though is that Slaven will be too much of a yes man, I think the owners could be a bit domineering with a younger manager
Agree again mate. I think he
Agree again mate. I think he's one of the reasons they went for him. He probably ticked 7/10 boxes where others wouldn't. Ranieri for instance has been around the block too much put up with the interference. I think Allardyce probably wanted to go once they started interfering last year but didn't want to resign without a pay out. If you remember it was a farce last summer, they almost were goading him into it. I think Bilic really wants the job, he must do with all this outside influence, that maybe a good thing long term, but I'm not sure he'll get too long to make things work
I hope he can get
I hope he can get reinforcements and make a go of it mate, I think he's a good fit for West Ham, conscious of the club's history and knows what the fans want to see, whether trying to keep everyone happy will prove to be his downfall who knows but hopefully it won't. I think we see things the same way regarding a senior manager, they wouldn't put up with the meddling in team affairs, I think that was obvious with Allardyce when he suddenly had signings like Nene and didn't use him, probably just to prove a point. I just hope the owners back up their vision with some decent investment otherwise we could be in for a hard season
