Now I know we are mentioned as being interested in lots of players every season but, surely now we have a much improved selling point with the projected growth and our future intentions? So despite, yet again, being linked with even more players than normal this season, why do we find ourselves with only one proven decent signing? Some of the other signings may prove to be positives but the lack of proven high quality players is a worry. We are even struggling with the Song deal apparently, yet we were told the deal is 'in place', and I hope this proven to be the case. Bilic wasn't even in the Top 3 targets and we are now looking at signing players on the final day who have struggled for years and been sent out on loan regularly or fallen out with management/clubs. Surely the club needs to address the approach to how we recruit staff in the future, as it clearly isn't working in my opinion. Your thoughts?

There are targets and then there are realistic targets. We could target Messi, Ronaldo, and Suarez, but how many of them would we get? Similar with Managers I think; we are NOT a top 10 cash rich club, so to target the very top managers wasn't realistic in the first place. I don't know if the rumours about The Fat Spanish Waiter, Bielsa, and Klopp were true, but how many of us genuinely though we had a chance of getting them? But hey, if you don't try you don't get, so I'm not gonna slag off our owners if they genuinely did go for a top manager. Of the realistic options open to us, Bilic was probably top, or equal top.
As far as players go, it was all looking rosy 3 or 4 weeks ago, but things have gone rather sour the last couple of weeks! Maybe SUGO thought their work was done... I'm most unhappy, that having lost Downing (who I never liked anyway) we have not replaced him with a class wide creative player. The striker situation is so typically ' West Ham' that if it wasn't so worrying it would be laughable! Our 2 biggest buys, and they are both crocked, with our top scorer last year facing problems that can't have him in a position to concentrate on his game, our 'not good enough last season' striker also crocked! It could only happen to us!!!
The 2 BAD home defeats have made the situation seem a lot worse. That fact and all the other 'bad news' has conspired to perhaps make things look worse than they are... we shall see.

Can't help but agree with antkb but I see the point bully is making. The board are writing promises they don't want to stick to! Look at yilmaz if the rumours were true then our offers were ridiculous. Buying adebayour is the kinda thing you'd do if you wanted to sabotage the club. As for wingers people like Moses could have been concluded weeks ago. We should have money left in the kitty after selling downing to but sulli sniffs to long around loan targets unecssarily. These people either give no value on the pitch or we spend next season trying to buy And Not improving the team. The loans and freebies are getting out of hand!

It does seem to be poor. However, it's not just us, you look at Man United, they look like they will be competitive in all the domestic competitions and The Champions League, yet how many strikers do they have?

Our plans have also been disrupted by being in and then falling out of the Europa League. We were shaping up to have a very strong squad, but it is not just injuries, but losing players like Nolan (I know many will disagree), Downing, not getting Song, letting good players out on loan such as Burke and Poyet and suddenly, when the inevitable injuries happen, we look extremely light.

In some ways, I wish we were still in the Europa League, just to be able to have a big enough squad.

We started 4 central midfielders on Saturday. Who will replace Nolan in the starting 11 v Liverpool? Lanzini? Jarvis? Oxford?

He offered nothing and shouldn't be playing, Lanzini came in and scored and played a big part in on of the other goals whereas Nolan wouldn't these days. Experienced yes but when your legs and confidence are gone then it's almost impossible to get away with it in the PL at 33 in midfield.

I heard he was replaced by a traffic cone in training and was as equally effective as Nolan. Unfortunately we loaned the traffic cone and didn't sign it in time to play on the weekend! Come on Sully, surely we can offer 2.50 to the council for the cone?

Come on I think we all know it will take at least 2 cones to replace him because of his work rate

A bit worried that our 3-0 victory will muddy the waters as to our striker problem and give Sully an excuse as to why not to splash cash on Austin or Chico...

I hope not as we still need a striker and winger. I see Cisse might be available but not sure he is the answer. Sisto is a good Winger player for 4.9million. Well worth a punt.
