2nd Fixture Will Be Tasty

West Ham open the season at home to premier league champions Manchester City, City will be parading their new signings and West Ham will be hoping to be able to put a team together! With that game a virtual write off much attention had been given to the club's 2nd fixture, away to newly promoted Nottingham Forest, well that game has taken on a whole new significance now that long term David Moyes transfer target Jesse Lingard has elected to join Forest instead of West Ham!

At least the 'will he, won't he?' saga has drawn to a conclusion no matter how messy, Forest have got a top player, while the player has got top dollar, believed to be around £200,000 per week. Those inside the club had an inkling this situation might occur and have acted accordingly by looking at other options, there is NO WAY Hammers were prepared to pay that sort of money and were not prepared to get into a bidding war with Forest.

It is easy to be high and mighty in judging Lingard's behaviour, but at the end of the day he owed West Ham exactly NOTHING! When he was on loan he helped the club achieve a top six finish and his performances earned him his England place back, albeit briefly.

Time to move on, nothing to see here! - Ed

I wanted him to sign Nev,hes a game changer, but am glad we didnt get into a bidding war,he took the piss for too long, there was no need for his social media crap, and his greed is obscene.

I like most supporters am pleased that this Lingard roller coaster has finally come to an end. I have nothing against the decision that he has made, even though it had Everything to do with money and anything else was secondary. As a supporter, I felt (naively) that his decision would be mainly based on football.
This scenario has happened to this club many times in the past albeit with less skilful players than Lingard. But what I believe will happen (when the club pulls their fingers out), is that we will probably get a younger player, with greater potential and a bigger future than Lingard.
What I didn't like was Lingard's use of social media regarding the "chicken run", proving once again that great footballers aren't always the sharpest tools in the box.

With you Deluded? £115k pw for someone of Lingards calibre. On a free transfer? Considering Moyes has been chasing him for a year this stinks.
Perhaps Lingard sees Forest as a club showing more ambition than us. They have added 11 players this summer slone. West Ham 2!! We will have a similar scenario with Broja. Lose other targets because of all our eggs are in 1 basket.

Ignore him,he's not Messi....remember lampard, all it used to do was spur him on to score against us

Delighted he's signed elsewhere, but Forest, really? Clearly has no ambitions for the WC.
Let's hope the dithering now stops as this is Forest's ELEVENTH signing since they won promotion. We've signed 2 and the season is 2 weeks away!!! I really cannot understand why we haven't pulled our finger out and got our business done sooner. This smacks of West Ham incompetence yet again. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised. Despite the team doing everything they can for the club, the owners are once again showing their true feelings. Parasites

Him not signing has got to show the lack of something we have, whether its lack of ambition, lack of money, lack of attraction, poor management......No good saying we shouldnt be surprised,we are supposed to be trying to compete with the top 6,why cant we be like the Arse and Spud, look who they attract and have got, dont make sense,Spuds have never paid big wages.

Buggered if we pay the wage demand, buggered if we don't. By not paying the alleged £200k a week (which btw I've only read about on Mickey Mouse forums and don't believe for one minute) then the likes of Rice, Bowen et al can claim that the club have no ambition.
By paying the alleged wage demand, then that would put Lingard above both Bowen and Rice on the wage structure and p*ss them off anyway. Rice's refusal to sign a new contract which would have made him the clubs highest earner is also a sticking point which doesn't help matters anyway.
The season starts in 14 days time and at this moment in time we probably have pretty much the same starting XI as last season which faded away so badly with an even worse back up bench to call upon. Now THAT is bad business.

Very well said Deluded, you are so right,Rice and Bowen would of felt pissed off,and even the Rice scenario highlights internal problems in itself that was already there, its speaking volumes and there is your answer, our main man and captain dosent want to sign,so why would anyone else.

In the words of Mr Mildew-If Yarmo was on 115grand a week why does everybody think we would turn down Jesse if he was asking for the same and we wouldn't accept this wage? because off the wage structure - Bo££ocks, WHU would have ripped his arm off - NO I dont doubt that we might have offered this amount, then he's gone to Notts Forest and hoped they would match and they have and so Mr Greedy thought he could come back and get 120 K a week off us and he has come unstuck cos we stuck to our guns, so dont tell us this is about playing football its about £240 thousand extra on his 12 Month contracts The Greedy little shit, its "Mind over Matter" He dont Mind and WHU fans don't matter but what has annoyed a lot of supporters is how he has done it and it's not just us- its Every club,
Jessi THe Football Whore flashed his knickers at Everton, Spurs, Arsenal, Mls,and Arabia so let's see if money teams up with misery- I Certainly hope so. dont begrudge any player going to any club but do it in the right sportsman-like fashion not like a prick teaser.

Was Lingard opting for Forest purely financial? We will never know the true facts unless everything is put out there. Depending where you look the figures being banded around are quite far apart. At first we were told West Ham had offered £180k & Forest guzumped us with £200k? Then you hear Lingard is only on £80k with bonuses adding up to £121k. If thats the case. Some serious questions need to be asked? How can a newly promoted team playing in front of 15,000 outbid a Premier League team who play in front of 60,000 plus & had a good European run to boot. Forest had already added 10 players to their squad since May.
Has Moyes been too successful for GSB liking? I wonder what the Kretin's take is on all this? Something stinks. This time last week I was thinking that Lingard, Broja, Onana & Scamacca were a shoe in and we would have lift off. Now it looks like Fuck off!

Forest are small time compared to us,thats why this transfer is steeped in mystery, they had their time in the 70s with Clough and havent moved forward, shit ground, shit fanbase, been out of the top flight for quarter of a century, now a team full of misfits, hope they get relegated first out.

Maybe, just maybe its as simple as not having to move house ,i know it sounds simplistic but Nottingham is only a couple of hours down the motorway .just saying.

Lingard was apparently assured total game time at Nottingham Forest. But at West Ham he would definitely would have to battle out for his regular spot. If the end of last season is anything to go by, no doubt Moyes would be constantly substituting him as he was getting quite pedestrian then. Southgate will very unlikely have him in his England squad when he is playing for the likes of Forest, unless he can display the same form as he did when he joined West Ham. I know that the fans are going to pack a lot of fake paper money to be sprinkled at Lingard in that oncoming fixture against his new club. But Scamacca looks like a probable signing unless of course Fulham or Bournemouth hijack him!! :( But why not also sign Broja on loan if that is what Chelsea's Turchel is on board with? It is quite likely then that Newcastle would do exactly that!!
