West Ham could sign Authur Cabral from Swiss outfit Basel as early as this coming Wednesday, which would make him eligable to face Leeds United in the FA Cup and League double commencing on January the 9th. If you thought that the financial crisis was limited to British clubs, look again and see just how MASSIVE the financial fall out in Europe has been!

Well run clubs who have always managed to avoid football's normal pit falls have been powerless to cope with the effects on their finances brought about by Covid and its numerous variants. As a direct consequence, long time Hammers target 23-year-old Brazilian Authur Cabral is available from FC Basel for what seems like a bargain £10 Million.

Ajeti Alert!

Cabral has been banging in goals for fun this season for Basel, scoring 27 goals and providing eight assists in the 31 games in all competitions that he has featured in. However players who have a good goal scoring record in Switzerland rarely manage to convert that form in to scoring goals in the far more competitive Premier League, you only have to look at what an abject failure Albon Ajete was for West Ham, he was eventually sold off for a £4 Million loss to Celtic.
Ajeti looked the real deal on paper, but as the game is played on grass perhaps more consideration should have been given as to his suitability for what is an incredible frenetic and demanding League, it is the most watched League in the World for a reason!

Although £10 Million sounds relatively inexpensive for a young striker, he might sink or swim at West Ham, so careful consideration MUST be made ahead of his and ANY other transfer. David Moyes has overseen the construction of a tight knit group of players, the last thing he needs is for that 'togetherness' to be disrupted.

After this evenings game against Palace there is a HUGE eight day gap before the next fixture, plenty of time for Moyes to marshal his troops ahead of what could become Hammers BEST season EVER - Ed

Like you say banging in goals for fun in swiss league is very different to the Prem and Moyes did not sign Edouard from Celtic because he thought he would not do it in the Prem so apart from being Brazilian whats the difference.....Penny pinching even now new year nothing new it would see.
