Burnley vs West Ham Match Preview

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Fri, 06/02/2026 - 11:52

Another six-pointer has come around for the Hammers! A weekend that is overly crucial given the nature of the game for the relegation fight, as well as fixtures elsewhere, which makes it a crucial outing.

There’s a possibility that by the end of the week, West Ham could be three or four points from safety if the victory is secured, Leeds take on Friday night, meaning that someone will be losing out on accumulating all three points.

Scot Parker’s Burnley side have had a gloomy season, with what started with success has plateaued into a spiralling sense of misery, where they find themselves 11 points from safety but a tough mountain to climb ahead.

On paper, it should be a game full of goals. West Ham have conceded the most Premier League goals this season, conceding 48, whilst Burnley are just one behind on 47… a bizarre stat given that Wolves have only conceded 45! Perhaps that’s because the Hammers nicked Kilman off them.

This is a must-win game for West Ham. Nuno will make the executive decision on who should start as the central defenders as he finds himself without Jean-Clair Todibo for three matches, whilst in his press conference hinted that Axel Disasi could make his debut and didn’t suggest that he was too unfit or not ready.

West Ham’s flying attacking form is also matched by Burnley, who have scored 10 in their last 5, but if Nuno’s side could once again knock early on the door as they have done in the last three matches, Burnley may not have the attacking capability to claw themselves back.

The referee for Saturday’s game will be Darren England, who will be joined alongside Andrew Kitchen on the touchline, with Matt Donoheu in his ear on VAR, with Lee Betts as an assistant. - LN

Interesting listening to talkshite last night. The Forest fans up in arms about Dyche tactics and team selection. They are seriously pissed off. All saying how under Nuno they had clarity, a direction and team understanding. Saying how lucky we were and they'd have him back in a heartbeat.

They're saying we will stay up under him,at their expense.

Food for thought!?

Yes, ginger version. Sounds like he's just swallowed a lizard. Hardly original, but Forest call it Dycheball.

Is one in a long list of managers who are/were masters in the art of survival like Pulis, Allardyce, Stokoe, Curbishley etc. all running their clubs on a shoestring or with moderate funds. Similarly, just like Allardyce and Pulis in particular they were mostly derided by many other club fans and not respected for what they managed to achieve, which is staying up but unfortunately not always pleasant to watch.
Sometimes there would be a glimmer of nose bleeds or a win in a cup final like Dave Bassets Crazy Gang or Stokoe turning over the mighty Leeds.
Nottingham Forest aren't the most blessed of sides and their fans are a bit deluded if they would be welcoming him back. It's conveniently forgotten that Forest were in a bit of a poor run with Nuno and despite their little nose bleed of a season high last year had run out of ideas and steam.
With the possible exception of Newcastle who are underachieving for the money they've spent albeit with another "survival" mode manager and Spurs who have about ten first teamers out injured, from seventh place down, all the teams are survival teams and are highly unlikely to employ the likes of Pep Guardiola or Arteta. And even then, I doubt either of them would do better than Nuno at our club or Forest.

With respect Deluded. If a bunch of Forest fans are ringing up on national radio. Long time supporters spouting facts and frustrations. I'm somewhat inclined to believe them.

After all thats what we do. Thats what every team does. Because the fans are rich in the knowledge, that they know what they are talking about!

If they'd take Nuno back it's end of for me. They obviously have good reason!

They want him back. We want him out. So which set of fans don't know what they're talking about? If my memory serves me right, he was quite popular at Wolves too.

Who's we? I want him in. Way better than Potter n lop. Trying to get the best out of a poor squad.

Is not set very high using Potter and Lopetegui as the yardstick to judge him by. The "we" is what appears to be the general consensus of opinion that I glean from comments on this site. I'm already on record as saying Nuno shouldn't be sacked but that's not me saying he's my preferred choice of manager.
