Doom & Gloom Ahead Of Leverkusen

It cannot get much worse if you believe all the doom and gloom emanating from West Ham ahead of Thursday's Europa League 1/4 final against Leverkusen. The most damning is the injury speculation regarding Jarrod Bowen, with the striker apparently ruled out of the game.

There are also doubts about Lucas Paqueta AND others and to top it all off Edson Alvarez is banned for the game, all in a all a potential disaster awaits David Moyes and it is a situation that is very difficult to take ANY positives from.

Once more unto the breach!

The facts of the matter are that Leverkusen more likely than not will run out winners of the 1st leg, the facts don't lie and anything other than a resounding victory for the German side would be a shock, BUT then again, Hammers have proved time and again that when their backs are up against the wall that they CAN achieve the remarkable, particularly against 'fancied' teams.

It will be a tall order, but perhaps one or two might just play out of their skins! All will be revealed on Thursday as David Moyes tries to cobble together a make-shift team to take on the as yet unbeaten Bundesliga outfit.

As this is a two legged tie there is at least a chance of redemption when the 2nd leg is played in London, so many will view Thursday night's fixture as a dead rubber, the players are professionals and should RELISH the opportunity of playing an elite team, after all, the game is played on grass NOT paper! - Ed

I don't think Bowen is a massive miss. Obviously I would prefer him playing. But Antonio will lead the line & Kudus will be on the right. Perhaps is the time for Phillips to step up. Apart from Bayern of yester year. A good German team equals a mid table English team. If Moyes shows them too much respect then we are fucked!

"I don't think Bowen is a massive miss"... really?

IMO the best player we have had in the past two seasons. The Beast can lead the line but for only 70 minutes then he's finished.

Phillips hasn't travelled, injured in training. Question mark over Paqueta's fitness.

BL are a lot more than average and would be a top 7 side in the Prem. The record is glaring, unbeaten in 41 games domestic and Europe.

Im so looking forward to this game, just cant call it. We could get a classic Moyesball draw or be thoroughly punished Arsenal style... no idea.

You misunderstood Dartford. Bowen is a big miss but our attack is capable of filling the void. I think Alvarez will be a bigger miss. Did not know Paqueta was doubtful.

well... they both were a big miss and next week without Bowen, Paqueta and Emmerson is game over for me.
