Irons French League Renaissance

Ever since Rob Newman joined West Ham from Manchester City we here at the Org have been banging on about the value to be had from Ligue Une ever since the collapse of the Bein TV sports deal that left all but the few seriously affected, the French government stepped in to temporarily keep the game going but their bail out has ended and for many it is sink or swim!

Usual a club that suffers from financial machinations West Ham were actually well placed at the beginning of the most recent transfer window to fully exploit the situation across the channel and have 'swooped' to fill key areas that needed urgent attention, none more so than club record signing Manuel Pacquetta. Pacman's signing along with that of Thilo Kehrer, Alphonse Areola and Nayef Aguerd show exactly how far down the 'Gallic' route Newman chose to go.

It has taken a while, but the seeds of the Iron's French Renaissance seem to have been well and truly planted just in the nick of time! Yesterday's performance against a very decent Fulham team WAS definitely edgy, especially in the first twenty minutes when the visitors could have been THREE goals to the good. The atmosphere at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium was also rather subjude because transport issues meant many had elected to sell their tickets on ticket exchange resulting in a lot of the dreaded 50/50 scarves!

At the end of the day the result looks comfortable, ON PAPER, but it was a stressful watch punctuated only by moments of beauty from Pacman and Inkman, not forgetting NFL's greatest Michail Antonio's 'cameo' goal in the closing stages!. Anderlecht on Thursday next swiftly followed by a visit to Southampton on Sunday, a team who love to mess things up for the Irons on a regular basis. - Ed

Jan Loooka is settling in well, if only he could pin point those snap point blank headers that he seems so good at, would be the icing on the cake!!

But thats the West Ham way surely? Moyes sets up Not to lose rather than win. I cant remember the last time I watched us win comfortably with a nice big relaxed cushion of say two goals up and in control. Maybe its just typical of the quality in the premier league that there is no such thing as an easy win or poor opposition?

It's premier league, elite football. Why do people here even imagine that we will and should come out the tunnel and play some sort of Barcelona style football for 90 mins? I can imagine that man city fans expect it every match but why do you guys on here?

Some posters after 7 games declare Moyes must be sacked! Others as soon as five mins is played are moaning that we arent sweeping the opposition away,? After a hard fought London derby, much of talk is wrong selection, wrong tactics etc.

I'm baffled by it. Even I'm being told I must be a young fan with rose tinted glasses? I'm actually a fan of over 40 years. What Moyes has done over three seasons is excellent. We are bringing in players with quality, scamacca, paqueta etc. We haven't played 12 league games and yet apparently Moyes is hopeless coz he won't throw downes in or play Antonio and scamacca. Yet if pep buys grealish n uses him sparingly, he's a genius. If he spends twenty billion on a squad and they still don't win champs league it's still ok, he's top manager. Fans love him.

Yet for all work Moyes n staff do in what is not football manager on a PC, but a real life struggle every season, all he gets is slated, insulted and his players hurled abuse at?

To tell me I'm some sort of fool for supporting the work and progress while you disrespect everything and everyone at the club I just don't get. My guess is it's a case of online warrior. Coz I can't see these so called older posters doing same in person to Moyes or the players. So why this bizarre criticism? Saying we had a bad game is fine, or so n so wasn't on it. Yeah. But to personally insult the players? Players who are really trying hard to keep us in top end of a really tough league? No one can be in form every game, nor can we expect to win every game.

I was brought up to support players and managers who show hard work and dedication. Even if we got a tonking, I'd never say martin Allen is crap and got to be sold or that billy bonds is going to move so get rid now.

Where does this come from? It's not an attack, it's just a question. What happened to getting behind players and managers?

It's so doom and gloom. We are mid table after slow start. Progressing in Europe. We've got so many good players, a big stadium. Yet coming on here after Fulham or wolves and it's just oh well the opposition are crap. So and so is crap. Moyes is crap.

I signed up thinking it's a positive place. That it's minority few of these online warriors but I'm not seeing anything else. The main posts are ok from Neville Nixon, some positive vibes coming through. But why is it like that? Cheers.

Where you say after wolves & Fulham wins everyone is saying moyes is crap etc....you have a strange take on things, people might have said there's room for improvement but a wins a win in most eyes! As for the days of Billy Bonds & martin Allen when i was a ST holder i wasnt that bothered about what went on the pitch i was too busy enjoying the banter in the crowd something thats completely lacking in this beautiful new stadium.....I think Burkie was right you just look for confrontation & that's my last word on the matter
