Hammers have finally completed the signing of midfielder James Ward-Prowse from Southampton for a fee thought to be in the region of £30 Million. The 28 year old England international has joined on a four year deal and looks set to make his debut against Chelsea this coming weekend.

"I'm buzzing to be here at West Ham United," said Ward-Prowse who joined Southampton at the age of eight and made 410 senior appearances as well as captaining the club, who were relegated to the Championship last season.

Ward-Prowse continued "From the outside looking in, this is a club that has been on the rise for a number of years now and coming off the success in the Europa Conference League last year, you can feel there is real momentum around this club."

David Moyes who relentlessly pushed for the signing said: "He's performed to a very high level in the Premier League over the last decade, constantly producing good numbers season after season. His leadership qualities are obviously another huge plus for us - he'll be a big voice for us, someone who drives the team on from the middle of the pitch."

How Ward-Prowse fits into the team is a matter of some conjecture, but at Moyes' 'Dinosauric' style will not be as extreme a culture shock as it would be for a player coming in from Europe! In a way, the signing of Ward-Prowse is part of a quid pro quo player acquisition policy that has seen new director of football Tim Steidten get his man, Edson Alvarez and Moyes get his man!

Ward-Prowse and Alvarez are quality signings, unfortunately there is now an increased 'shopping list' due to Lucas Paqueta's imminent departure to Manchester City. Most people love Pep, but we don't, he has essentially ripped the creative core from Hammers before the season begins in earnest.

There is no point in crying over what might have been, instead the club need to 'spank' the Citizens over the fee for Pacman, nothing less than Cole Porter AND £100 Million will suffice, it is NOT as if West Ham are short of cash are they? So playing hard ball with City should most definitely be the course to follow, put up or shut up!

The next few days will see a flurry of transfer activity, hopefully the Maguire will he or won't he will be resolved sooner rather than later, if not the club need to move on to other targets and Moyes needs to lose his 'lost dog finding it's way home' obsession with the other side of Manchester! - LN

Would you drop for him. Yeah, decent player. Did we NEED him?

Is a bit strong a term to use. There are parts of the team that need addressing and as far as I'm concerned JWP doesn't address any of those issues.

Against Bournemouth imo. Always said his game suffered whilst Moyes and West Ham were pandering to the GOAT that was Declan Rice who wanted to play more of an attacking role where Soucek was left to the back duties and suffered as a result. Saw Rices game for Arsenal against Forest in his new forward role and didn't think he looked worth£110 million pounds. Or to put it another way, there are far better attacking midfielders at a cheaper price than Rice.

Its true he had a reasonable game, the first in 3 seasons and was "partially" at fault for the goal. I guess we will just have to agree to differ. For me he doesn't even look like a footballer, awkward, gangly, slow, poor tackler, backward passer and does read the game, would love to see him leave.

As for Rice, I have moved on, I have zero interest in him, didnt watch the Arsenal game, he's no longer a Hammer so he can go to hell in a handcart!

Deluded has a point,we all know what souschefs best position is he excelled at it when he was first with us...but for some bizarre reason he was played every bloody game for nearly 2 years just to accommodate 41 ( that's his shirt number where ever he goes, talk about the Ego has landed!! But he put a shift in & didn't go on strike!) Back to Souscef I feel a tad sorry for him he went from hero to zero not his fault but Flynn Downes imo every time he played with Rice was better at holding possession whilst he could DARTFORwarD see what I did there!!)
Downes has gone to the saints,I bet he didn't have much choice tbf...Sent to Coventry or should I say the chumps graveyard

Could work out well if we get tickets for the WWC final, by the time we get home ready for another beer and watch the game live! :o)

Might workout well for us. With JWP delivery we could become a force force from set pieces. Just need a Dawson to get on the end of them.

Thats where Maguire comes into it. Because there's no -one else who would be in the box (that Moyes would select) who will be on the end of his deliveries.

JWP will take Fornals place in the team - that will be the only change against the scum I feel either that or Super Sid Dramarama. One of those will be dropped...
