New Player Saga

Saga was a company that used to specialise in slow paced holidays and 'safe' car and home insurance for the 'silver surfer' older generation. They took plenty of time explaining options and were always proud of the fact that they DIDN'T try to bamboozle their ageing customers.

Well it appears West Ham United decided to adopt the 'saga' approach when it came to this summer's transfer window, despite having a full kitty as a result of the sale of Declan Rice to London rivals Arsenal, Hammers have been painfully slow in acquiring urgently needed new players!

Well as Clarkson would say when referencing all things Canadian, "that's all 'aboot' to change!" It appears West Ham have finally landed their first major signing of the summer, IN PRINCIPAL!

Edson Alavarez has been tracked/pursued by the club for what seems like an absolute age, Ajax obviously wanted top dollar for what is a top player, so eventually 'Dino' Moyes was persuaded by Tim Steidten to pull the trigger on the move. Alvarez is at the peak of his years and at 25 years old will have a significant sell on value, a term Hammers bean counters had to look up in the dictionary!

The fact is that British clubs, well aware that Hammers were flush with cash, decided to take the proverbial with the pricing of their players, Manchester United in particular decided to really 'chance it' WITH THEIR RIDICULOUS VALUATIONS of both Scott McTominay and especially the ageing Harry Maguire!

Left to his own devices, Moyes would have been crawling up the Manchester club's drain pipe in order to get hold of two very ordinary players, after all there is a reason Eric Ven Tag wants rid of them both! If this is 'Ze German' factor that has been brought about by the addition of Tim Steidten, then long may it continue!

For too many years West Ham has been the final destination for ageing players looking for one last pay day, in fact it is one of Football's in house jokes about the 'Elephant's grave yard' that exists in the East End.

Hopefully, the problematic left back situation can finally be resolved as well as signing a striker who actually FITS into the current team and the 'old school' approach of the incumbent manager. An extra centre back is required as is a back up striker to who ever also arrives, because as Moyes likes to 'run the life' out of new signings to show who's boss, they will inevitably pick up an injury in training before a shot is fired in anger!

We still think the Board should have 'bounced' Moyes at the end of last season, but every little helps if Moyes isn't 100% in control of transfers!

Expect a busy few weeks until the end of the window. - Ed

Another factor is that decent players just dont want to come to a club that seems to be in meltdown ,a manager without any understanding of attacking football ,with Moyes its 1 up front and always has .A manager that thinks players like slowchech are no: 1 on the team sheet , that Flynn Downs is a suitable replacement for Declan ,a centre back ( ZZZ ) who needs planning permission to turn around ,infact Moyes amplifies the world negativity .

On the subject of a full back. I watched Kyle Walker-Peters on Fri for the Saints he is a proper player (ex spud) fringe player so what?

Cant believe we are not in for him. Or anyone else for that matter, he'd be cheap 15-20 million!!

The amateurish(childish)way our club is run has me totally disinterested in the season to come....i feel sorry for those season ticket holders who must feel mugged off themselves right now.....53 days since the window opened not a signing in sight and now told judge Moyes on his prem results not friendlies...have they not see his record the last 18 months in charge...the worst by any manager and that includes those who were sacked by other clubs....i have not invested a single penny in the club since they EVICTED us from our home...tell a lie i have purchased a new mug from the club thats it but mugs thats what they take us for.

I may go to the fan zone mate for a tenner you get a proper atmosphere,a live band, & watch the game bit like the carpenters with 5k in there what's not to like a 50/50 scarf, popcorn & a selfie stick but at least there's passion with like minded...

Scott M is a decent player, done the goods for Scotland. Overpriced I agree, but gives depth to the squad. Man U know about platers being over priced because they have money, Fred for 50 Mill anyone? Why wouldn’t they play the same game for a rival with money. McGuire seen better days, maybe best left alone, or maybe a change will reinvigorate him, who knows.

Alvarez might be at the peak of his years and at 25 years old will have a significant sell on value, however you only have to look at our recent striker sales to realise Moyes couldn't boil a kettle!! We paid big money for both Haller and Scamacca and have sold both for a loss! One went on to smash it Ajax and the other is returning to Italy to continue where he left off imo
