Nuno Faces Heavy Defeat To Winless Wolves

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Sat, 03/01/2026 - 16:58

A broken record, a collection of replica CD’s or a satnav that only guides you to misery, you can determine your path as the Hammers handed Wolves their first victory of the season in festive fashion as the home side shipped three past us just 41 minutes in curtsey of cataclysmic clearances, delayed reactions and the gift of a third penalty in the space of in two matches.

The positives in the team? Null and void, doom and gloom, far from fetch, there are no positives to pick out when you face defeat to a team that had yet to win in 19 matches. No individual player had a good game and you just have to feel sorry for the poor buggers who made the trip to Molineux today in the hope we could have our first win in eight… instead, that’s now become nine.

Whilst it seemed typical fashion that West Ham would be the side to give Wolves their first win, most would’ve believed there was an underlying belief that we could’ve gone on to close the gap to Nottingham Forest, but if anything, we’ve gotten further away due to the goal difference!

Many thought that Nuno’s side were unlucky, but no, it’s the comical errors adding up and costing West Ham in the vital moments, Kilman’s mistake against Bournemouth and Brighton, provided stepping stones for them to get back into the game, Scarles’ error against Fulham, Magassa and Kilman making a mistake for Wolves’ second today which ultimately buried the game before the third had even gone in.

From Mavropanos’ and Kilman’s poor errors, to midfield nightmare’s and Summerville’s poor clinical ability, the team at the moment screams dire from the bottom to the top and if you could pin-point a result of dread and ‘where it all went wrong’ if you will, this result will likely become quite a popular choice come the end of the season. Of the few remaining optimists available, you’d be quick to mention that there’s only a four-point gap to safety… but if a sides getting battered by a described “hopeless” Wolves side, then what miracle is required for the utterly desolated Hammers?

An avid Premier League viewer would’ve seen the score this afternoon and believed that Wolves would’ve been a side that was mid-table, perhaps fighting for European Football, given the way that they played and relentlessly pressed Nuno’s side, forcing the Hammers out of the game for both halves with no way of coming back. That’s how far the Cherry’s fallen.

Nuno’s side will waddle over to the Bowl on Tuesday Night to take on Dyche’s Nottingham Forest, which will need to see a miracle occur for the Hammers to have a shot on target… let alone uttering and fathoming the idea of three points.

Three points or three pints? That’ll cost you £18.90, Sir. - LN

He was absolutely crap. Wolves didn't look a mid table team. We looked like a league 1 side. The only positive was it wasn't more than three.
To all the guys that will drive Paqueta to a buyer. This is what our team without him looks like. Totally devoid of any creativity

but hopeless today.

Shocking skipper, zero leadership.

Take the captaincy of him now and give him an excuse to the Father in law to piss off!

Relegation is inevitable and looking past that into the following season Bookies etc will tout us to go straight back up but that will not happen...Wolves looked far better equipped to do that than us.....we are not even a bang average side we are a very poor side with one decent player who of late has been well off it.....Rumours abound that Sullivan is revising his options about Nuno but he has to have the other board members agreeing if he is to be sacked which makes you wonder how is he allowed to be in charge of transfers nobody else?...Bilic and Carrick the two being considered.

They want nuno out? When does penny drop that it's not the manager but a totally inept squad. 3 managers now, same squad same results.

Agreed, it's not the manager. Nuno is gone, maybe not tonight. But within the week. Bilic will be next, till the end of the season. We are going down regardless. Hate to say it, but a hard reset is needed. Hopefully, the owners will go?

Nutty Nuno is useless, look at the stats, 15 games & 2 wins 13% win rate

Worst manager in our history.

No bounce factor when he joined, shocking selections early on with SlowCzech and Ward Mouse, poor decisions on substitutions, play at home without a striker on and on and on... mistake after mistake... Useless!

His heart was NEVER in the job. If it were he would surround himself with his own backroom staff not the left overs from even the Moyes era!

But, I still dont blame him that sits with The Kiddy Fiddler. BS Out!!!

Funny how a useless manager got forest on brink of champs league football though.

I stick with that.

Brink of CL... So did Moyes

So 2 wins in 13 is ok for you and you are happy he stays? Well not for me.

I'm happy for nuno to stay if the board buy him some decent players. Doing a Chelsea and becoming a sacking club isn't the way forward.

Whats wrong with Moyes, where would you like me to start? Its history now, move on or ask the same question of all the West Ham fans that wanted him gone which at the time was the majority.

LOl... sacking club like Chelsea. We are nothing like Chelsea and have no chance of ever emulating their behaviour.

I would just like some competence at board level. A group of people that can set a short, mid and long term strategy that understand THE most important job they have is recruitment of both Coach / Manager and Director of Football. Thats the starting point, get that right and the revolving door is a thing of the past.

But you think its better to stick with a losing formula? Employ the unemployed that no one else wants like Moyes twice, El Pel, Loppy, Potter and now Nutty? If the latter was so bloody good why is not still at Spudz or Forest pray tell?

I dont know how to sum up todays game. Out of 10 Jimmy gets a 6, Walker Peters a 5 and thats purely for the effort as application was appalling. The rest can fight over 2s and 3s. Alphonse probably gets a 4 for one outstanding save and Ezra just for trying to make a fist of a bad situation.

I think we are rotten from top to toe. Sullivan and the board are just totally out of their depth, he's analogue in a digital world, he's Lotus 123 in a microsoft age, he's Alexander Graham Bell in the Apple era :o). The most thick skinned individual on the planet to hear week in, week out, the protests and hangs on like Hitler in the bunker.

Nutty Nuno is clueless. He is already statistically the worst manager we have ever had in our history, even Loppy and Potter are statistically better! Has brought no "bounce"  factor. He's getting praise for bringing legs in midfield but it has zero creativity and forward passing.  Magassa at fault for all three goals / pen, taking him off at half time was the only smart move from Nutty. Jeeze... he managed to make SlowCzech look good!  I wouldnt give him a transfer window, focus on players that will get you out of the Chumps league which is probably the academy boys.  Replace with anyone with a West Ham connection.... Is Vera Lynn still available? Nutty will take the pay off, always a temporary appointment for him.

Potts and Fern, awful, gave the ball away so often without a forward pass. And dont get me started on Kilman, a man stealing a salary. Wilson, can't judge him, had zero service.

Finally Bowen, never seen him so poor, touch awful, gave the ball away needlessly and no leadership qualities.

My Mrs (a nurse) just said I guess taking your blood pressure now is not a great idea :o)

Well put Dartford, the bounce factor, after Moyes there wasnt any of that with these 3 managers, the crap just continued.....Where do we go from here??,its so awful to watch, after being taken apart by a team at the bottom, havent won a game either, its on the cards now, we are going down,if Nuno goes we need something and someone extraordinary to stir this up,i think it was Elthammer who mentioned Di Canio, why not, what is there to lose, personally i would like to see Carrick along with another ex Hammer, with Noble even....Weve got Spurs away in a couple of weeks, what humiliation that will be.

Today I witnessed one of the worst days in the life of our football team thought I had seen it all with Avaram Grant but this team is worse no fight no passion and a team that is has convinced itself to be relegated no fight just a load of strangers playing in the same team some terrible examples today Potts what the f*ck was those 2 free kicks ??Killman losses the ball couple of the team bypassed him and none of them moving to give the player with the ball an option so the ball gos backwards or sideways, and so many passes given away Although Nino should be trying to motivate the team he’s not on his own Bowen should be doing more, even Robson should be motivating the youngsters they all are ball watching you only get out of any game what you put in this was like a bad dream all of it ,how can a team that was competing in Europe be in such a mess, the Declan Rice money all squandered by B&S. this position is not new to a lot of old irons but the position we are in is heart breaking we are not going to attract any established players to come into this side May be it will do us good to regroup and see what happens in the Championship because there is no doubt in my mind that we are going down and I am not looking forward to a half empty stadium don’t know what the atmosphere will be like but I think a l lot of season ticket holders will be giving it a miss and Turing up for the odd game here and there I will always support WHU But if they can’t put themselves out why should I.Got a ticket for the Nottingham Forest game and I am dreading it Football should not be like this all this. Season it’s been hard work going to the game this is definitely not entertaining me or my mates who are also not coming to the home games

If you think Nuno should stay on what evidence are you basing that argument? The players deserve the shit being dished out right now because not one of them were up for the fight yesterday not a one...and when those foolish people say what do you know you've never played at that level i would agree with them but point out when ex professionals who have played at that level and higher are giving the players grief about there ability and commitment and not having the balls for a fight tell me i'm wrong now.

Nuno would be gone now if we were run by proper owners and fuck the excuse oh we play Forest in a few days so you can't sack him before then? why not what would change? we win does it mean we've turned a corner and suddenly we have the new Pep on our hands? do not kid yourselves or anyone else the players clearly are not buying into anything they are allegedly being taught in training and it shows every week on the pitch.....they are just fed up of playing negative unadventurous football week in week out that does nothing for them or we the fans.

This man stays even for the Forest game we are down we sack him bring in the new man be that Bilic/Carrick/Poch(all Available for free)we probably will still go down but maybe just maybe with some fight.

I'm not jumping on the Nuno out bandwagon. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Nuno fan but he is certainly better than Potter or Lopetegui and that's where the mistakes were made .And Nuno has only got those mistakes to pick from. I reckon we would all have picked that starting line up that started against Wolves yesterday and it became quickly obvious how important Paqueta is to the team because without him we are lost. And yesterday it showed. There was no forward creativity.
I'm seriously gobsmacked at how some of you, never mind wanting Nuno out can seriously even THINK about Bilic as a saviour or improving on results with that team. Have you all forgotten how clueless the man was when Payet left. the signings HE made, the handwringing on the touchline with just no idea what to do or tactical change to make. He was sacked for a reason.
Sacking Nuno is not the answer, Pep Guardilola, Ancelotti, Mourhino wouldn't be able to sort this mob out never mind Bilic so lets see what players come in, what changes are made and stay up or go down, make changes at the end of the season before summer window opens.
(And bring back Big Sam)

We are all going to have to round up together on this,we need to be led now by someone who has a West Ham connection,it needs understanding of the club,we will still go down, but the club has to close shop now,and only let in those that know, and with that mind set we could come straight back, otherwise we will drop further,Nuno is lost with it all,get Carrick in with Noble, young level headed West Ham Boys, have a season or two in the Championship,we will be back,no disrespects to Nuno,it was lost when he got here.

Forget all this business of getting someone good in this month to save us,thats not going to happen, the team needs a rebuild now, which is going to take a few seasons,if by some miracle we stay up,we will go down next season, with this same shit, its a mess, too many holes to plug in this team, theres water leaking everywhere,it needs ripping and replacing with new pipework, its plain to see.

The season is done, forget any thoughts of a Knight on a white horse coming to the rescue, thats impossible given the raw materials.

Or to use your analogy, we have more leaks than the Titanic and look what happened there!!!

Kevin Nolan and Stuart Pearce, initially a short term contract. Give them a transfer window based on developing a young squad capable of getting promotion. If it works, offer a long term s deal... Simples!

Oh... and give the captains arm band to Ezra Mayes, West Ham through and through, learnt his trade honed the skills on Wanstead Flats like many other Hammer greats!

All this is down to Sullivans lack of vision, cannot see further than the centre section of his last porno mag....Bowen has had it also, hes lost his way,he thought he could be Mark Noble, but will never be,hes not West Ham get rid of him aswell in the clear out.....I do like the idea of the Nolan and Pearce thing Dartford.

lets play 5 at the back and 5 up front long ball game cuts out mid field players, so defend or attack bit of do or die time, after all the long throw went out of fashion but now its back with vengeance got to be worth a try easy to under stand the game plan simples eh .

It was just our luck to get these run off alledgaly winable fixtures whilst we are somewhat depleted. Both full backs on African Cup duty. Todibo injured.
Like most. I'm not a Nuno fan. He made his bed in the Leeds & Brentford games. Yesterday he had no choice butvto play Kilman & Mavrapanos at centre back. Scarles is going to become damaged goods having a torrid time so early in his career and getting no redpite.WP. Bless him. His heart is in the right place but his football skill is in the wrong league. All the senior players seem resigned to relegation. But most will cut deals when we drop & remain in the Premier League.
The worrying thing is. We got relegated with the likes off Johnson, J.Cole, Carrick, Sinclair. DiCanio, Defoe. How is this current shower going to manage to survive.
