Phoney War Nearly Over!

With so many players being linked to OTHER clubs, many Hammers fans are fearful of the apparent lack of inbound transfer activity going on at West Ham, but panic NOT!

The domestic transfer window hasn't OFFICIALLY OPENED YET, but to read some of the media reports you would think that the club has been left in the wake of others and will be picking up scraps rather than top players, nothing could be further from the truth.

For once West Ham fall into the category of 'cash rich' clubs, that doesn't mean that a 'Pellegriniesque' spending spree is about to occur, rather a series of 'cash' deals whereby the club can gazump others, just like they have done to Hammers over the years, because selling clubs DON'T want o be paid over up to five years, they want their money quickly so they can either pay off debts or re-invest in new players.

Being able to pay most if not all of a player's transfer fee will invariably jump the queue, so hold your horses until the window opens before jumping on the old 'smoke and mirrors' bandwagon so dearly loved by GSB AND the club's various other past owners.

It may be galling to see clubs like Villa 'flexing' their financial muscle, but we would suggest that the devil is in the detail and that it is better to wait and see who arrives at West Ham before casting dispersions on the club's recruitment. IF 'top quality' players are NOT brought in, then by all means conduct a thorough 'autopsy' of what has gone wrong, in the meantime why not just enjoy the fact that the club IS moving in the right direction and show a little patience, after all, many fans have waited a lifetime for the club to be in such a strong position. - Ed

Plenty of time & I think one thing with Moyes is he knows his targets!

thats the only target he is interested in 65 and if rumours are true he now wants £180 thousand a week then walk away he is not worth it.....he just wants money he does not want to come to us if he did he would of last summer so IMO steer well clear because he will not be anywhere near the player he was when on loan.....as for the rest Nev yes we may be linked with all and sundry and the window yet to open but that does not mean you do not get your ducks lined up in a row.....i hope i am wrong but i do see another summer of dithering ahead.

Yeah he can do one for that money - he was good when he was here but we can't be messed around by overpaid divas. Surely there are other players out there, make a couple of good signings then look to the lower leagues for another Bowen

I agree 100%...
A little common sense and a bit of calm is needed here. Good sensible reporting and journalism are very hard to find these days in this echo chamber of Hits, Likes and simple headline-grabbing Sensationalism.
I've been around long enough to realise that this West Ham is much DIFFERENT than the West Ham that I had become accustomed to, and indeed, we ARE finally heading in the right direction.
Long gone is the scattergun and signing players to appease supporters' approach to running a club. I DON'T need to be privy to conversations between the board, Moyes and Rob Newman to believe that they have a well thought out process and a plan in place.
You have pitched this well and your assessment is spot on regarding the position which this club is in right now and the direction in which we're heading.

yep... Go along with that.

This is a NEW West Ham. I still have family and friends that are still not happy, particularly with Moyes but for me he's not perfect but still perfect for us!

I would still like is to get Patrick Schik. He his proven at top level. Can handle himself and put himself about. I would then play Antonio in the number 10 position. Let him roam across the top of the field. Hold the ball up. Them 2 up top would be a nightmare to defend against. They would batter the oppositions defence.
I think we also need only 2 from 4 out of Lanzini, Fornals, Benrahma & Vlasic.
Should be an interesting window. Hope we get quality over quantity though we need both

i do believe signed a new deal with Leverkusen few weeks back Enfield so it wont be him....saw a beast of a player upfront for Solihull Moors yesterday maybe Moyes will get him before a Wrexham or Stockport get him!!

The Lingard speculation just goes to prove there is no room for sentiment in this game ,im sure lots of us thought he would fast track to west ham after manua because Moyes saw somthing in him and gave him a chance ,not so, hes got a cart load of other clubs to choose from ,personally i dont want him ,he'd only cause trouble with his wage demands ,180 a week ? , forget it ,not anywhere near worth it .
