The illusion has finally been put straight as the ‘Czech Sphinx ’, Daniel Křetínský, has spoken for the first time since taking over as a majority shareholder of West Ham United.
Křetínský spoke to The Times in what is a rare direct interview with the Czech national. The Billionaire spoke about West Ham’s overall situation but briefly dumbed it down to the players, the finances and the ambitions of the club.
"We have a very credible strategy”
"What matters is funding, strategy and consistency. We don't need to sell the players for financial reasons. We are doing this to make sure we are promoted back to the Premier League immediately. That is our only goal.
"Key players are waiting for us. They want to see there is a real chance of keeping the squad together. We have spoken to all of them. They need to see that our project is real and serious. Promotion is our only goal."
The crucial aspects of the statement simply put the record straight, West Ham United do not need to sell. We have been told over the past decade that we always need to recoup, well, all of a sudden, Hammers fans are now being told the opposite.
“Key players are waiting” - the goal is simple: retain the squad, add a handful of players to improve as well as replace those who wish to leave, but overall, keep the majority tight and rise above all to promotion.
Whilst the Hammers may not need to sell, Daniel Křetínský’s £90m investment, which is expected to be put in before July 1st, simply will not be enough to put the Hammers in the green for the long run; a lot more work will have to come.
Spend low, invest well.
But these investments are not in players. West Ham have been used as a ‘cash cow’ previously by the owners to the point where the club became unsustainable and started to spiral. Křetínský will have to be willing to sacrifice making a profit at West Ham for a handful of years, but as time passes, the story might change.
Promotion to the Premier League will see West Ham earn upwards of £150m+ in revenue overall, and with £90m pumped in, that places the Hammers in a position of comfort rather than worry, but still red rather than green.
It’s a tricky situation, but it’s a positive to hear refreshing news - however, that won’t be the last of it before July.

I'm absolutely sure the
I'm absolutely sure the narrative for the players has changed completely. In light of the Sullivan situation. Apart from Todibo and Ward Prowse who have publicly fallen out with Nuno. The rest do not need to go anywhere.
So loyalty up against personal progression. Will be the order of the day. Just what will Summerville and Fernandes do? The rest, Bowen, Soucek, Taty, etc should stay for another season.
Of course, God forbid we don't go straight back up. There will be players leaving, faster than a goat at a Mongolian BBQ!!!
Bluster?
I think not and really what is being said to those who want Fernandes and Summerville is put up or shut up..no low ball offers accepted we set the price you meet it or kindly go forth and multiply Someone with a vision someone who does not spread rumours lies or set fans against each other someone who we can take seriously and listen to?
Bold statement by a man who keeps his cards very close to his chest and rarely talks publicly what a refreshing change it has to be said but as the saying goes the proofs in the pudding.
Oh and Louis
Thankyou for granting my request of removing that mans picture from the site. xx
Same crap, different leader
Season ticket sales must be down.
Lets see shall we
We have to give the man a chance,Otherwise what next? a consortium fronted by TC no thank you and certainly not Americans please,Fan ownership will never happen sadly.
So Let us see if DK will follow through with his words and give him a chance.
I can add to that Deluded,as
I can add to that Deluded,as i have posted on here a few times, last season was the first i didnt have a season ticket for 18 years, and i was contacted the week before last to see if i wanted one,now i wasnt on no waiting list either, that tells you something, people were getting charged a tenner to be on that, what bollocks all that is,so yes that proves ticket sales must be well down.
I think we need to be positive
Its a new dawn, might not tick all the boxes but so much better than the last regime.
I think Jimmy and Fernades will be sold but not a knock down fire sale price.
I see Bowen staying so long as we keep to his salary requirements. He no longer has the excuse of moving to a big club for International football as England rejected him!
Im not fussed about losing others, remember they are part of the problem why we are now in the Chumps league!
The futures bright... Its Claret n Blue!!! KTF!!!
