Took Your Time! Hearing Date Finally Heard

Submitted by Louis Nixon on Thu, 06/03/2025 - 11:52

Yesterday’s announcement finally revealed when the seemingly never-ending Lucas Paqueta betting hearing would take place.

The FA revealed to Sky that the hearing will take place this month and will last three weeks, and at the end of three weeks, a verdict could be reached, depending on what evidence is and isn’t provided.

Paqueta has complied with everything that the FA have needed him to do and has also given evidence that has been required in all given circumstances.

Sky insists that the FA are looking for Lucas Paqueta to receive a ‘lifetime ban’

Yet, it has been said that: ‘Lucas Paqueta’s personal feeling is that whatever happens, he will clear his name. He absolutely insists that he’s done nothing wrong and he will not rest until he has cleared his name. The talk of a lifetime ban does not even enter his thinking’.

If we look at the bans for Toney and Tonali, which took place for both of the Premier League players.

Tonali was banned for a total of 10 months, and Toney was banned for 8 months. Considering the severity of both of these cases, both players acknowledged the mistakes that had been made and accepted their punishment. However, the punishment the FA are seeming to take to Paqueta almost appears as personal rather than factual.

In addition to this, Paqueta took to Instagram a few months ago, writing a public letter of complaint in regards to the FA about allegedly publicating details of the case and leaking information to the public.

From an outside perspective and from the information the public knows, it appears to be that the FA have constantly been delaying the case in an attempt to find more evidence, and it has finally reached a stage where they are now forced to provide something, if anything.

So far, they’ve attempted to link a £7 bet to him, as well as accuse him for changing his phone.

Next, they’ll say that he has to be betting as he’s got Betway on the front of his shirt!

They asked for his phone he gave them his phone they had it for a few months said they had finished with it and gave it back..... then a bit later they wanted the phone again but Pacman had replaced it or lost it or whatever but the answer was no so they say he must have something to hide as he now no longer has it...but of course it was in the F.A's hands for long enough that they could and should of found evidence but clearly they did not so i am with Pacman on this matter because all they seem to keep doing is trying to find and prove something that they clearly having trouble in doing.

One way or another at the end of this three weeks this will not be the last that will be heard on the matter and it will drag on and on which does the players and F.A's reputations no good.

I'm on the fence. On one hand I think there must be something in it for it to have gone anywhere in the first place. The FA seems hell bent on proving it. I'm fairly sure he'll be banned as for how long who knows? If he's innocent then surely he will appeal?
