Time moves on even if statues don’t move… unfortunately, the Hammers are statues. As time passes, it’s becoming further and further apparent that West Ham’s inevitable ‘top targets' are slipping through their fingers for cheap fees.
It was reported a while back that the Hammers had scouted two lists in the event of relegation. One would be targets staying up, the other about relegation. Seeing as the latter occurred, that presumed list was in preparation for no money coming into the club from an owner, aka David Sullivan, as well as anticipating us struggling to make player sales.
However, seeing as Daniel Kretinsky has taken over, he personally injected what is thought to be £90m and the £85m from Mateus Fernandes meant that the supposed “£200 million that needed to be raised” suddenly became just a mere £25m which would be easily achievable given the ‘assets’ the club have at their disposal.
The idea of deliberately avoiding certain free agent signings suggests that money is available to spend, and Kretinsky is confident that we can do that, as he confirmed via interviews.
The ultimatum here is did West Ham underestimate the ‘power’ that they hold? Ideas of nobodies on a cheap fee have now changed to still potentially spending ‘Premier League-like fees’ despite being in a different league.
Letting players such as Martin Adeline go, who was supposedly our ‘top Fernandes replacement’ is now off to Hamburg SV for a mere €6m fee, something simply has to be in the water! Targets of better calibre… well, hopefully.
The same can be said for Manchester City’s Sverre Nypan whom the Hammers were said to be interested in taking on loan, has instead joined Lommel SK.
Slow or planned? Something is going on behind the scenes undoubtedly but reinforcements have to be made otherwise, there’ll be a whole lot of losing, off the pitch and on it! Tick tock West Ham!

Was hoping to see a few
Was hoping to see a few through the door by now. We need players familier with the team. A few friendly matches under the belt. Not signings a week before kick off.
Do we no who our top targets are really?
With the amount of players being linked it is like finding a needle in a haystack and because for once their is little if anything coming out of the club(how refreshing is that eh)panic ensues that we are doing nothing that everyone else is miles in front of us,well lets see shall we deep breaths boys and keep calm.
Well
Lets also be realistic. We are in the chumps not the prem. Cant say playing millwall n lincoln is a real pull for decent young players. They will surely look at other options.
The sad thing here is if only we cudve mustured another win last season it could be us buying tonali, and similar whilst watching spurs firesale
that would never of happened
And documentary or not if we had survived Sullivan would of stayed on until all the crown jewels were sold then scarpered.
Maybe my view on things is a
Maybe my view on things is a bit basic. We've lost Fernandes, we'll probably lose Jimmy before the season starts too.
But with the squad being retained so far, I already think we're 85% more than able to progress to the top of the Championship. We have a lot of young talent back from loans.
I don't see any reason to get my knickers in a twist to be honest.
Well
You got more faith than I have. Fernandez, Summerville and to a lesser degree Mavrapanos were the only sparkles last season and unfortunately, Disasi is not ours (yet). As for the returning outloaned players, they didn't uproot any trees except Alvarez and he's off away by all accounts.
Todibo will be gone, probably Fullkrug if anyone will have him, Ward Prowse isn't going to get a look in and I can already see the confidence of our two crap keepers disappearing behind Killman and whoever will partner him . Of course, I expect there will be other changes, but as it stands, it's going to be a long miserable season in my opinion.
It will definitely be longer
It will definitely be longer than last season, but I'm not sure anything can be more miserable than us last season.
I don't bloody belieeeeeve it
I don't bloody belieeeeeve it.. I actually think if Fullkrug can stay fit, he'd be Nunos Chris Wood in the Chumps league. Big old lump, Johnny on the spot when needed. Viva ze luftwaffe...Yar!
Injury prone when we bought
Injury prone when we bought him, injured when we had him, why would he all of a sudden become fit for a season long campaign in the Championship with no VAR and a lot more dirtier players??
To be fair M2C I think not
To be fair M2C I think not having VAR will help us no end. Sure it's a 2 way street. But having endured seasons of the farce that is VAR. I see a lot more goals and a lot more excitement. As for Fullkrug, I expect him to be on his bike, if I'm honest. Maybe going home to the Freiburg Turtles perhaps?
