When Sebastien Haller was sold on to Ajax the club were asked, by ourselves as to what sort of sell on clauses had been added to the contract, we were answered "well the club would be crazy NOT to have added them given such a huge drop in value, there would have to be a 'substantial' value added factor for the numbers to make any sense!"

Well the truth seems to have been unravelled with the Haller deal, the club also 'allowed' Fabian Balbuena AKA The General to leave as well as paying off the remainder of Winston Reid's deal. The season ending injury picked up by Angelo Ogbonna which was swiftly followed by an injury to Kurt Zouma exposed just how paper thin the squad was even THEN!

Hammers centre back pairing was more often than not, Dawson and another! Fortunately the 'another' when Kurt Zouma was unavailable was Issa Diop who despite being often called upon in difficult circumstances performed admirably when required.

So seeing Fulham 'lining up' a £12 - 15 Million bid for the imposing Frenchman which apparently might be accepted seems a strange piece of business, bordering on the Halleresque!

Surely the club have learned that it needs strength in depth and retaining Diop is essential EVEN if it means losing him on a free next year, selling him at a vastly reduced fee during the next transfer window, or extending his contract by a further year, only the club know if they have THAT option!

The fact that the club has brought in, at great expense, a superb centre back in the form of Nayef Aguerd doesn't mean it is exactly flush with central defenders. Craig Dawson has been an immense and impressive signing, however he played most of last season using cortisone injections or the equivalent thereof.

Ogbonna is coming back from a career ending injury, so it makes absolutely NO sense in even thinking about getting rid of Diop UNLESS a club is willing to step up with a 'proper offer', more in the region of £25 Million plus AND that money was instantly used to bring an extra defender in, then it MUST be seen as incredibly short term thinking!

the amount of games in such a short space of time at the start of the season you can see us picking up an injury or 4! so the depth of the squad and to my mind the age of both Dawson and Ogbonna should be taken into consideration.

We are hopefully going to be in Europe for a while again so it must make sense to have depth in all areas of the squad,Spuds doing another loan deal shows you how they are filling there squad with Europe and the league in mind so surely we should be doing the same?

They have that Stadium to pay for still yet if they are and still can spend around the £100million mark on transfers does it not beg the question where is our money? we only rent and the games are attended by over 50 thousand plus add to that the european venture and the fact Moyes does not really splash out on big signings so why do we not have the cash? afterall it is the reason we moved so we can compete in the market place or do you think that was a porkie!

Looks like Fulham maybe signing Diop, now that Aguerd is also available. Since Downes has put pen to paper three down and still four or five to go. Do not know what Lingard's problem is. West Ham gave him a life line and all he should do to show some gratitude for it is to say yes to Moyes and just put pen to paper rather than getting too greedy and demanding a huge salary in his twilight years. also now the latest is that Soucek maybe pinched by Aston Villa. Cannot see him going into the lower rungs unless the salary is the issue!!
