'Boro In For Antonio, Are They Having A Giraffe?

Silly season is about to kick off at the beginning of June when the transfer window opens, however that doesn't stop a raft of spurious rumours surfacing at every opportunity. This leads us to the Michail Antonio to Middlesborough 'distortion' currently doing the rounds, firstly 'Boro are in no way to blame for this 'story', all that has happened is that a 'spokesperson' for the club replied yes when asked if Antonio would be the sort of player they were looking at following their promotion to the Barclays Premier League. Saying you would like a player at your club would be like Slaven Billic saying he wouldn't mind Messi or Neymar rocking up at the Olympic Stadium, it won't happen, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't mind it does it?
Michail Antonio seemed to be an expensive close of window purchase from Nottingham Forest at just under £8 Million, but he has proved to be one of the buys of the season, some pundits and many West Ham fans were of the opinion he should have been with the England squad for the Euro's, but that's another story. Whatever the opinion, Antonio is worth a good deal more than the sort of money Middlesborough were 'rumoured' to be talking about, in the inflated market about to be further fuelled by the massive increase in TV revenue his value would be in the £15-20 Million region.
Hammers will be one of those clubs looking to pick up a good deal from the relegated clubs, one player in particular is Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote who Billic is quite keen on, if he did sign can you imagine the confusion for commentators when Cheik Kouyaté passes the ball to Cheick Tiote? - Ed

Fixture Pile Up That Liverpool & Chelsea Would Love To Be In

Manchester United's narrow Emirates FA Cup victory in extra time over Crystal Palace has opened the door for West Ham United to enter the Europa League, thus ensuring some kind of European football for the inaugural season at the Olympic Stadium. Hammers will enter the Europa League at the same stage as they were knocked out this season, victory over Stoke City on the last day of the season would have meant going straight in to the group stage, instead of having to play in the third qualifying round. The third qualifying round legs are scheduled to take place on 28th of July and 4th of August, however Serie A champions Juventus are scheduled, at considerable cost to West Ham, for the Olympic Stadium’s curtain raiser on Sunday 7th of August. Matters are further complicated by the fact that should Slaven Bilic’s side be drawn at home for the first Euro qualifier leg, a difficult situation could arise, Hammers anchor tenancy officially begins on the 1st of August, UK Athletics has events scheduled between the 22nd to the 24th of July, and since the stadium takes seven days to set up as a football ground there would not be enough time for a home first leg tie. The draw for the third qualifying round takes place on the 15th of July and the club would have less than two weeks to come up with a positive solution to the problem, one option would be to ask uefa to allow the first leg to be played away irrespective of the draw, this would require the co-operation not only of a group of eurocrats, but also the permission of which ever club Hammers are drawn against. There is the spectre of having to play the home tie at an alternative UK venue, which apart from being logistically a nightmare would greatly inconvenience supporters from all sides. Hopefully common sense will prevail and moving the tie, if necessary bearing in mind the draw hasn't happened yet, doesn't become a major issue. However, let's be honest, these problems are the sort of problems fans want to be talking about and debating in pubs, clubs and on forums, there are many fans of 'leading clubs' such as Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC who would dearly love to be in Europe next season, even if it does mean starting in the third qualifying stage, after all, you have to be in it to win it! So after all, it will be the Hammers who will be experiencing European Knights, you can follow the odds via a reliable partner of ours (we vet them very carefully, hence no adsense links or pop unders or overs) who have not been hoisted on us by google! Fa cup final / Europa league

Submitted by Red Neck Iron on Sat, 21/05/2016 - 23:46

So we are in the Europa league next season, as Man Utd won the f.a cup. We deserve to be there despite the way we eventually qualified. We also need it to attract better players, maybe lacazette is waiting to see if we qualified! Anyway did anyone see the game? 2 hours of football 3 minutes of highlights! Hard to watch as we needed Man U to win but I don't want them to win anything. Jesus the thing that struck we as the most shocking was how bad smalling is! An England regular and he was dire, embarrassing that he is probably regarded as an England mainstay. Looked totally out of his depth when under pressure.

So we get European Football

and Mourinho is the new Manure manager (Ibra will go to Manchester ...). But Clattenburg was still awful. Some things never change. I feel sorry for Palace and although I like the fact that we'll be in the European competition, I still hate seeing Rooney holding the cup.

Transfers and rumours

Submitted by Red Neck Iron on Fri, 20/05/2016 - 16:46

If like me you hear a lot of rumours but feel you can't believe most of them or indeed just want to tell us put them on here. It's the start of silly season and I feel frustrated you just hear made up stories we can't believe. So now I'm hoping to record them here and see who is the most accurate, and who just talks sh1t and even who just uses a scatter gun approach just to land the odd lucky guess. So here goes, record the rumour, where you heard it first and the date. And even time Then I will sort the list and see who we can trust most often. So if you hear it on the TV. Radio, newspaper, Internet or indeed just an in the know source, let's us know starting today. I'm only interested in the first people to break the rumours from this day as they then All jump on the band wagon.

The Sun Are At It Again!

Printing false or spurious information seems to be the bye word for those working at News International's Sun newspaper, what initially looked like lazy journalism is actually a rather unpleasant occurrence of 'media led' player destabilisation. The Sun's report claims 17 year old Reece Oxford, Slaven Billic's favourite young player, wants £40,000 per week in wages and a 'signing on' fee of £1 Million! Wait a minute, a 'signing on' fee for a player who is already signed up? Confused, you should be, as is Oxford himself. The young Hammer of the Year was quick to respond on social media that the Sun's claims were 'fake', this was the second time in as many days that the Lad has felt compelled to deny false accusations regarding his contract at West Ham United. Firstly West Ham are unable to extend Reece's contract because of the FA ruling over the length of contract that an under 18 player is allowed to sign up for, secondly Oxford is a Hammer's 'jewel in the crown', rightly compared to a young Rio Ferdinand before his departure to Leeds, and eventually Manchester United. There is no way the club would sanction the sale of Reece Oxford, and the figure of £10 Million that was plucked out of the air by those bastions of truth at the Sun is rendered irrelevant by the fact that West Ham United are no longer a selling club, this irks those who don't like to see their croneyism with the big clubs threatened by the 'lesser clubs', Leicester City brke down the door, and now a host of other clubs including West Ham are rushing through the gap, fuelled by the insane TV rights money soon to be available. Further more there is a suspicion that there is a bit of a hidden agenda with regards to West Ham, due to the anchor tenant Olympic Stadium deal, so expect a lot more hot air in the ensuing weeks.
Obviously it would be naive to ignore the fact that major clubs will be 'sniffing around' Oxford, the youngsters talent is widely known, but Slaven Billic is keen to protect his player from unnecassary overhyping, and if anyone can Slaven can. Oxford comes across as an intelligent and balanced young man, not the sort of person swayed by bright lights and big words, he is confident enough about his own ability to know that he will make the step up to the match day team sooner rather than later, but you won't read about it in the Sun first. - Ed

Back after Sabbatical

Submitted by joepardew on Thu, 19/05/2016 - 10:23

Hello everyone,
I've been off this forum for a few years now. I guess a wife and 2 kids has something to do with that! I recognise some of the names online here, therefore great to see the org still going strong!
It's been an incredible season under Super Slav and quite honestly, we can even be a little deflated at not reaching Wembley and failing to finish top 6. I use that word loosely because this season as a whole was FAR from a failure. In many ways, I actually think finishing 7th is the perfect platform for moving into the Olympic Stadium - we wil learn from the dropped points near the end and will have gained so much from the "taste of success" this season. Nearly got champions league and nearly got to wembley. Some of the football played was a pleasure to watch and quite rightly, Upton Park had a fitting finale. With a few clever signings and keeping the core, we will be even stronger next season.
Question for the editor (Nev?): How can I access all my past entries in the org? I have a catalogue of passionate entries from a few years ago. Do you have them stored on the site because I remember a few years ago, we were able to access this?
Looking forward to hearing from you (and all my fellow die hard Hammers out there)
